The bivouac was renovated and was clean this Sunday. Inside about 6-8 people can sleep. Fire is of course forbidden.mežikanje

Before the first snow whitened the mountains we headed to Rjavina to wait for sunrise. On the summit wonderful and pleasantly warm.

Why is Dolkova Špica pointy and why is descent to Krma between Pršivec like calvary over Smrajko, why pants are worth every cent and boots not worth a dime.
Yesterday after almost 2 months back to mountains. Tempted by peak I see from window daily near Očak but much less crowded and "virgin".
Read lots about ascent to Rjavina from Krma over Teme but with gang wanted more... Hand on heart traverse to Teme from Pungrt didn't appeal... Ended up our own line direct to Rjavina summit unforgettable day in beautiful winter mountains.
Start from Krma at 5am right choice as we led, even those behind in Krma slower pace than us. Don't know where energy from, fitness from 150% to 15%. Path to Prgarca in total dark "less pain" due darkness, dawn near Kredarica-Dom Valentina Staniča junction. Then it began. First photo stop as all around glowed scarlet. Due immense beauty dull traverse to Pungrt surprisingly fast. There Matej spotted gully excellent choice. Gully cutting both Rjavina peaks bit too gentle. So direct approach upper snowfields. Route via avalanche path to gully over two steps to central snowfield up steep ramp to traverse to snowfield below summit. From snowfield straight up over two steps to main Rjavina summit. Stamp proof right top. Short stop watching "Hofer" on Triglav.
Descent over Rjavina roof to traverse back to gully down to exit on vast Pungrt. Didn't fancy traverse back to marked path (read trodden) so via path behind Pršivec straight to Prgarca. Followed painful descent to Krma and Psnak for well-earned one.
Compared other winter ascents e.g. Triglav this tour harder need choose passages on fly no fixed protection mixed terrain.
Enjoyed: Tina Martina, Silvo, Matej and Juš

Hi!
On Sunday I'm heading to Rjavina. I'm interested in the path conditions from Kot (climbing path from Pekel). Is there any snow left on it and is winter gear needed? Thanks for info.

With Jože we visited Rjavina today, climbing from Kot via the climbing path, back via the ridge. The path is without issues, the climbing part still has one snow patch but no trouble, it can be bypassed. We met two hikers and way more ibex :-), more in photos.

Hi,

I plan to go to Stanič hut and do ascents on Rjavina, Cmir, Vrbanove špice. One overnight planned. Which climbing paths can these three be compared to and does any stand out particularly in difficulty? Thanks and best,
Miha

None of the three routes exceeds Hanzova on Mojstrovka. Via Vrbanove špice is one of the nicest here, because it is varied and naturally routed, to Rjavina along the summit ridge to the peak is a bit more airy, to Cmir is easier on the marked path.

In the book 55 secured climbing paths both Vrbanove špice and Rjavina are rated 3/4... Hanzova on Mojstrovka only 3. By my personal experience: Hardest Vrbanove Špice, then Rjavina and only then Hanzova on Mojstrovka...

I agree with viharnik and Janiel74, I would add the following. If you traverse from Debeleg kamen over both špice to Stanič or vice versa, a nice ridge traverse with very nice views and of course quite steep walls awaits you. The ridge is well protected - helmet and self-belaying are obvious. The path to Rjavina from Debeleg kamen is more of a path that winds along the wall and may not seem so exposed as Vrbanove špice, but caution is required on the summit ridge. The traverse of Vrbanove somewhat reminds me of the traverse Skuta-Dolgi hrbet to Grintavec - of course my opinion. -Safe-

OK, thanks for the info. So it is somewhat comparable to the climbing path on Stol, as it seems a bit more demanding than Hanzova on Mojstrovka? We'll try it and see. lp

Lojze Rekar's path to Vrbanove Špice or the path from Kot to Rjavina is not comparable to the climb on Stol. Stol is a walk compared to the mentioned ones.

Traversing Dolgi hrbet - Skuta is not exactly a walk. With vertigo you have no business there, so the comparison with Lojze Rekar's path is not comparable in my opinion. I've done both, this is just my subjective opinion.nasmeh
