In this time (i.e. 6.5-8.5) avalanche or snow conditions as forecasted by ARSO are:

Date of issue: Monday, 6. 5. 2019, 8:56
Next issue: Wednesday, 8. 5. 2019

RISK ASSESSMENT
Avalanche danger in high mountains above about 1800 m is CONSIDERABLE, 3rd degree,

http://meteo.arso.gov.si/met/sl/weather/bulletin/mountain/avalanche/

To me personally it doesn't seem safe to hike high mountains after such a significant change.

folks, does maybe someone know if the trail to Skuta will be repaired this year, or have to wait another year?
I know we're still deep in winter conditions, but repair works probably planned in winter.
I have an idea to cut a nice loop above K. Bistrico (from Koča to kam. saddle); if Skuta trail still closed, then find such a tour elsewhere.

thanks for info.

Go under Skuta via Sleme. Regarding the repair, the ones in Kamnik know, the trail will surely be marked as if nothing had happened.
Good luck

What are conditions like on the south side? Both descents interest me - to Podi and to the bivouac...

Has anyone maybe hiked through Žmavcarje recently, is there still any snow up to the bivouac?

Yesterday to the bivouac, two small snowfields just below Podi, snow was soft in the afternoon, so it was possible to cross safely, but a bypass a bit lower on the scree would also be possible. The path is fine, but really steep. Regards

We're heading out tomorrow to Dolgi hrbet and then to Skuta? Based on keti1's post, it should be snow-free and passable now. Has anyone been up there these days and can describe the conditions a bit? Thanks

Hi, has anyone hiked through Žmavcarje towards Skuta these days? Is the path completely snow-free? Thanks

Not completely snow-free!! . Down at the scree you'll need some time to cross the snowfield or on it.
Good luck

Thanks redbull, maybe I'll wait another week, or I'll go via Kokrško sedlo, where it's probably snow-free...

Hello, can anyone tell me if the path to Skuta is still closed? Namely, on pzs.si

1. they published news that the path to Skuta is closed: https://www.pzs.si/novice.php?pid=12795
2. they haven't published any news about the path being open again
3. they don't list this path among the closed ones.

The path from Malih podov is almost certainly still closed, as a rock was still cheerfully hanging on the cable a week ago.

@exwannabe Thanks! A bit negligent on the part of PZS not including these closed paths in the list of closed paths on https://stanje-poti.pzs.si/ ...

How easily some left-footers just label PZS as negligent. Besides, the path looks closed on the map.

And it will be like that for many years or until lightning shatters the rock

Grega68, you're also quite light with your labels of people, you know - obviously PZS reads this or someone wrote to them too, because yesterday midday on their site and map there was still no warning about this path's closure.
