"The Alpine Association of Slovenia warns all mountain visitors to strictly observe the closures of hiking trails that have been closed by the caretakers due to objective hazards in the affected areas."

SamoK, don't feel sorry for those few Euros you're donating for humanitarian purposes. But there is great honor and moral satisfaction here in being able to financially support noble rescue operations for those who miscalculated a bit in assessing their psychophysical abilities! nasmeh nasmeh

@SamoK

As a taxpayer, it affects me greatly every time a military helicopter picks someone off the mountains at my expense who rammed their head through a wall.

I know you're perfect. But when I see helicopter rescue, I'm rather satisfied because I know it's available to me too if I ever need it. About who rams their head through a wall and who's to blame for which accident... that's a debate that never ends. Rescuers don't even ask about that. And that's right.

@lino

There is a difference between people who miscalculated a bit in assessing their psychophysical abilities, and people who consciously walk past the sign "Path is closed".

It is also true that in our mountains there are many visitors who don't understand warnings in Slovenian - and many hikers who understand Slovenian but don't want to understand PZS warnings. zavijanje z očmi

As far as I understand, the problem is in the cable. If it weren't there, that rock would have long rolled into the valley. Why don't those who installed it cut it and release the rock? And of course issue a notice beforehand.
If it falls on its own, it can take someone with it, even if not exactly on this path, and even the helicopter that bothers some won't help him.
Otherwise, what bothers me more is when they pick up unfortunates run over by reckless drivers or those driving under the influence of alcohol. There, no one asks who will pay all the costs!?

We can also praise the quick response of the path's caretaker, who has left it unmanaged for the second season already.
Maybe PZS expects some modern-day Miha Uršič with a team of locals or today's civil initiative to do the work.

Skuta is also reachable from another direction/path - and easier, by the way...
Bavški Grintavec and Pihavec are also accessible from other directions, yet some still use the path that the responsible PD has closed.
Whoever and whenever, yeah ... Waste of money for warning signs, really...

Which other path would you take to Pihavec?

To Pihavec you go via pathless terrain from Luknja. From Kriški Podi yesterday I saw a sign the path is closed.

I'd go by that path, yes. From the Podi it's been closed for 3 years already.

So you would rather go via the difficult pathless terrain, where climbing crumbly rock in places is needed, orientation is difficult, walking on steep grass and scree is dangerous for slipping… than on the marked path secured with wire ropes and pegs, which is closed only because one section is not 100% compliant with standards for marked paths? And then descend the same way? Would you redirect other hikers who want to climb Pihavec to that pathless route?

For an experienced mountaineer, the approach from Luknja is of course more pleasant and beautiful, objectively perhaps safer. For a hiker used only to marked paths, however, very risky. For him, the path from Kriški Podi, even though closed, is incomparably safer. Of course, it's better if due to the closed path he just chooses another peak.

Last year right at this time we went from Luknja to Pihavec. All three for the first time. According to the description from hribi.net here, I mapped it on my phone. Because we couldn't find descriptions. It really is pathless without a single cairn to guide you. We went a bit too much to the left when we found Miheličeva plošča. But we found it. There wasn't much climbing. Beyond the slab it's not hard. Under the summit there's a path that comes from Kriški Podi. Views from the top are gorgeous. And yes, the grasses are quite dangerous for slipping if wet. We had dry grass.

@capra.ibex
Anyway, I don't know why you latched onto Pihavec - the problem is in disregarding the closure and not in my path choice.
The original question you addressed to me was which path to Pihavec I would choose. After my answer, in the continuation of the discussion you wanted to imply that I want to send other hikers on it, which of course is not true.
Once again - planning and executing a tour that includes using a closed path constitutes ignoring the closure. That's the problem I'm highlighting.

On Saturday, 17. 8. 2019, the mountain trail between Veliki and Mali Podi below Skuta will be closed.

No, then they'll probably start chipping off the scree so the rock has a clear path

Hi, tomorrow I plan to go to Skuta. I intended to go via the path through Žmavčarje, but I read that this path is also closed due to active rockfall. Since I don't know those areas too well I would be very grateful for help on which open path to choose for approach to Skuta. I'd like to do a circular route, that is up the technically more demanding path and down the less demanding. Thanks for help. nasmeh

Bivouac under Grintovec, Mlinarsko sedlo, D.Hrbet, Skuta and normally back to the valley and past the bivouac. Best and fastest is directly past the bivouac to Skuta and back the same. Can go past Cojzova koča, if you know Gamsov skret then even better for the loop. Good luck
