Gita, great pics. Congrats, especially those with Jalovec. I see, I'll have to go up again when the cat warms up. LP

On Friday I wandered above Vršič to Slemenova špica. It was a sunny, warm day, so it showed on the snow too, which sank a bit, but with snowshoes it went great. Attaching some pics to show the idyll..., at least that's how I experienced it... Best, Minca

Hello, I'm interested in the current conditions on Slemen's Peak? Since snow lingers there for a long time behind from Vratc onwards, I'm curious how the conditions are. Thanks

There's still snow, but you probably have something to put on your feet

Today I felt drawn again to some snow. Slemeno, which you can easily reach from Vršič, was the right choice today. There is snow in small patches, even below Vratci. From Vratci onwards to Slemeno it's still proper winter. The snow didn't crust, so walking was pure pleasure. Sun, blue sky and snow—it's hard to find anything better. At the top two jackdaws kept me company and together we ate my heavy sandwich. On the return at Vratci I see tracks that someone went up there but didn't continue to Slemeno. I couldn't figure out who would skip the best part of the trail when you almost reach it on the flat to such a viewpoint. A little before Vršič I catch up with two foreigners. It was quickly clear to me why they didn't go further to Slemeno. They were in shorts, real mini ones, barely covering their butts. Yeah, we gotta be sexy in the hills too. Ah, and one more thing: it's good to put on gaiters because sometimes you sink deep if you don't watch and walk too close to scree. It was a nice trip, I recommend it. Good luck everyone.

Today we set off for Slemeno Peak. At the saddle below the slopes of Mojstrovka snow awaited us. We didn't expect so much. We continued along the path and crossed a few gullies. But when we got to the narrow snow-covered section, without protections, below which was a steep gully, we turned back rather than risk slipping into the valley. Some people continued on. We'll come another time when the snow melts.

That big one had already gone across, the girls said they'd rather not go. I learned not to push anyone forward if they have doubts, because that's when most accidents happen. The mountain will wait. Still it was a nice trip in good weather.

I'd do the same if one of ours showed fear or uncertainty.

Well, today the two of us were also in these parts, mainly for scouting To Vratca completely dry, further two big snowfields and more (about 6) smaller snow patches to cross, snow is good, doesn't sink too much and most important NOT frozen (at least in the afternoon not). Tracks are visible, anyway no way to get lost on Slemen. Weather slightly cloudy with sun bursts, it shows! Hanz path to MM still heavily snowed, same descent shelf from Gamsovi roči if anyone interested. Snow in the cirque of MM and VM still lots, tracks there but tomorrow probably completely different. Tricky passage on path to Slemen no longer so dangerous as when snow was frozen (anyway with a bit of creativity find bypass!) Regards all! P.S. pics coming soon

I'm interested how the path from Tamar through Grlo and back via Črne vode is. Interested in difficulty and if it's normally passable now.
