@rozka

Is the path from the hut at Kališče to the top of Storžič clear of snow?
like
nata247. 04. 2011 21:40:53
On Sunday it was mostly clear, a couple of smaller snow patches, and you can avoid those too.

Storžič has been quite popular lately. I hope it's over and things normalize.
I'll try the path from Jekarica this weekend. Thanks @rozka for the idea and take care, wherever you are.

Today I went to Storžič via Psica. Started in Povalje past Velika Poljana. Snow is just a trace, only towards the top one larger snow patch, which you can bypass with a bit of scrambling on rocks. But it blew nicely along the ridge. Down the quick gully back to Povalje. I like this path because it's not as crowded as others, and you're not up too quick velik nasmeh

is the path through the gully already clear of snow

Still some snow was visible, at least before you reach the ridge where the paths join.

Start in Jekarica valley, then to Bašeljsko sedlo, from there to Storžič. On the path before the saddle still some snow, but no major issues. Nice weather, just windy. In short, the path is overall very nice, great views. Best regards

Maybe someone knows what those numbers on the trail markers mean.

If there's a number 1 next to the marker, it means SPP (transversal) runs along this path.

Lately you've made so much hype about Storžič that I had to try it - running style.

In Mače I luckily found a free parking spot.
Then I ran at my set pace towards Kališče. Tons of people everywhere, but shortcuts mostly empty. At Kališče in 38 minutes and still completely fresh, so without stopping I continued towards Storžič.

The path to Storžič from Bašelj Saddle was almost completely dry, except one small snow patch that can be easily bypassed. On the ridge a light wind was blowing, otherwise it was (especially for April) very warm. But it seemed there were even more people on Storžič than on Kališče - I met whole processions.

The time I got in the end (1 h 12 min) is kinda bad, but still, today I had a nice training in great weather behind me. Descended via Bašelj Peak and Mačensko Saddle.

Morning by bike to Bašelj. During the short ride I admire the beautiful surroundings where I live. nasmeh
Along the road past Gamsov raj, as far as possible. On foot along marked path and road past the nice house on the rocky cliff to the start for Kališče. Here the story really starts well...
I step onto the track on the left. It soon ends. I step onto pathless grassy ridge, which I soon swap for the nearby one on the right. Along it all the way to dense beech forest, where the steepness eases off. Walking in the forest extremely unpleasant, slippery on leaves. In the lower part I stumble on interesting rock shelters - one particularly catches my eye (in the middle there's a fairly large hole gaping, open below - reminds of natural wc; of course too big for my skinny butt). velik nasmeh
And just when it seems the forest ascent won't end, above the cut marked path I spot a small hunting hut. Not far above it the environment changes completely. Grasses take the stage. Above some rock-folded thing like an airplane wing (?) I start ascent into steep grassy gully. It turns out steeper than it looked. Below the exit I have to climb quite heartily (whole gully extremely dangerous for slipping)! As the world opens higher up, I look for passages straight up and slightly right. I tread the path on the scenic promontory above the exit of West Gully. To Storžič summit just a pleasant walk left.
Descend along unmarked exposed path on the edge of West Gully. The little path on descent is no piece of cake! Lower down fully surrendered to intoxicating scents of dominant junipers, which further beautify the exceptionally nice path! Below Sv. Lovrenc I go my own way again and via pathless terrain reach the road above Gamsov raj, where my faithful bike waits. nasmeh

Best regards.

On Sunday with the dog on quite a long route: around and over Storžič.
Circular route: house under Storžič, pl. mala Poljana, pl. velika Poljana, above Krničar hut on "easier path" to Storžič summit, descent to Bašelj Saddle, over Javorniški pass back to house under Storžič.
Varied path: from slippery grass, snow, mud, ice and slippery leaves plus fallen trees on the path from Bašelj Saddle towards Javorniški pass.
Had crampons with me, big ones for me, small for the dog.velik nasmehmežikanje
