lp Such ratings are always relative. I have better experience with path from Povelj past Karničar hut and up gully. Whole path can be nasty when wet, grass and wet soil not always safe for walking. Elevation about 1400m.

Poljanc, you didn't say in what sense easiest. As serajko wrote, from Povelj past Karničar hut marked as easy, but easy regarding vertigo fear, no hard sections, path nicely follows gully. If fitness easiest, surely not this one, really grinds knees . But path from Povelj wonderful, won't regret summit from there. Attaching some shots from that direction we did last year. Good luck

As the previous one said, from Povelj the path is easier in terms of difficulty, but harder on the knees than via Kališče because the steepness doesn't let up for even 5 minutes. But the route from Povelj is also better for me, especially in winter when the gully is snow-covered and the views are super. The attached pictures were taken mid-February this year.

from mac it's an easy path, I don't know what vertigo you're talking about it doesn't seem completely normal to me nowhere is it precipitous, just steeper towards the top. From Povelj it's 140xx from mac it's 15xx elevation gain. From mac to Kališče it's also flowing so the path isn't strenuous (I mean don't get me wrong you'll sweat anyway but what I wanted to say is that it's a nice groomed path, also well marked.)

Already before five in the morning I set off from the hut through the gorge to Storžič today. It started promisingly, but a small shower was already wetting the rock before exiting the gorge, so I had to be quite careful. At the top fog, wind, rain and for a moment even sun. I returned along the ridge, so the real rain caught me only at the monument to the fallen in the mountains. From hut to hut I didn't meet anyone. Despite the bad conditions, it was interesting.

Morning weather didn't look promising. At 5am when I got up it started blowing at our place and pouring. When driving towards Tržič it was starting to clear from the west, Julijci were somehow already in the clear, but the rest was still in black clouds. In Tržič I buy food, then towards Dom pod Storžičem. I think it's not exactly smart to challenge the mountains in such weather. Well, I can still turn back if needed... I park right before the no-driving sign - the Czechs who drove past obviously weren't bothered by the sign. I meet them later at the hut. "Dnes muže pršet!", says one of them. I greet the friendly spaniel at the hut and set off. Despite black clouds over Storžič and wet path, I continue. I climb the cart track and forest path to Mala Poljana. Continue to Velika Poljana - there I get a view of the Kranj side where it was clearing up. There I also snack and head to the fork of two paths. Whatever, I go to the ridge. Still in the forest line and if it pours I can go back. So I follow the path that starts ascending and after about 15 min becomes quite steep and exposed and I reach the summit which according to the description here on hribi.net should be Psica. From it I go down then up and then reach a chain that goes steeply down and is quite crumbly...oooups. Maybe the sign at the start saying very difficult path isn't exaggerated. Further it was easier but also quite crumbly - since the path is exposed as befits a ridge you have to watch the holds. No more fixed protections after junction with path from Žrelo, but in my opinion all climbing is within I, maybe I+. Black clouds still on the sky, now clouding towards Julijci too. Just hope it doesn't catch me on the ridge,... Not thunderstorm clouds but a shower could pour. Anyway it was great fun climbing up and down. Views especially to neighboring Karavanke from Pece to Stol were nice. Really one of the nicest and technically interesting ridges so far. Then I reach junction of path with Žrelo. After it the path becomes boring slog for a while but not for long. After about 10 min I have to climb again and use protections. One chain is steeper. Maybe here it seemed a tiny bit harder than to the junction. When the interesting part ends (exposure never lets up) starts that: summit is close, ah no still far. At the top I already see someone stretching by the cross. Well, I'm not the only maniac who pushed to Storžič in such! Past junction with path from Javornik and that from Kališče finally reach the top. That guy is gone. Weather held! After some time on top and thinking how I could also go back via ridge (upper part would be a bit harder downhill, after junction with path from Žrelo more or less same difficulty, that problematic chain would go uphill now), if weather more stable, a group of two guys and a girl comes from Kališče direction. We chat about this and that, look around,... meanwhile clouds start breaking and sun appears. But fog rising from valley to ridge, so after goodbye to the group I dash straight to Planina Javornik. Anyway I was very tempted to go the ridge in reverse too! Well when descending to Javornik I see fog has caught the ridge, but when at crossroads I turn back to Velika Poljana it's already clearing. Pity, could have gone back via ridge! Next time! Anyway it cleared and started getting hot. Forecast from hribi.net accurate again! Back to path fork and via Mala and Velika Poljana back to Dom pod Storžičem. There I order beer and their specialty: wild garlic soup with cottage cheese dumpling. For all that 5 EUR not much. It was very good too, host friendly. Those Czechs from morning sat at next table but silent. After meal greet the dog then back to car, in Tržič ice cream and home. One of the nicer trips this year!

Today early start through the gorge and return over Škarjev rob, so I escaped the hot sun too. Regarding the above exaggerated comments about the difficulty of the path through the gorge, I can only say that the ascent to Triglav from Kredarica is harder and more exposed (and many inexperienced hikers go there) than the mentioned path. Still, the rule of caution at every step applies (whether the ascent is easy or hard). And nice mountain greeting!

On Sunday, 8.7. I went like gregorp through the gorge to the top and down over Škarjev rob. I agree the path isn't so very demanding as some others, nevertheless some caution is needed especially due to stonefall on the path if there are many people. Helmet is obligatory. Otherwise very nice, varied and quite short circular tour...

For yesterday we had completely different plans. Then our fifteen-year-old comes the evening before, who has been suffering from "laziness" all year regarding mountains , asking where we're going and if she can come with us !? First we looked stunned, then I almost had the thermometer in hand, because it seemed like the heat must be cooking her and when after telling her wake-up time in the morning she was still "for it", it seemed to us that maybe she really means it . We "postponed" our plan indefinitely, since you don't go from the couch straight to all-day hikes, right... and left the target choice to her... Storžič was the expected choice, we've had it listed under "family hikes" for a while... When the day hadn't fully woken yet, we were already on our way from Dom pod Storžičem towards Žrel. Pleasant temperatures for walking, shade all the way to the top of Žrel, on the ridge the sun greets us for the first time, but doesn't have full power yet. Around 9am already quite a few people on top. Daughter said that's "so royal, being on top so early", from now on we'll always go that early... hmmm .. No heat yet, even a breeze came up, so the jacket was useful too and we enjoy about an hour on top... The return was hoooot, like in an oven... towards Javornik pasture, over Velika and Mala Poljana (where they didn't have sour milk ) back to start. Teenager happy with the hike, we too, hoping this was a good dose of "vaccine" against "laziness", hope it lasts as long as possible...

Something's "wrong" with teenagers this year . Mine has been dragging me already to Mangart via Slovenian route, to Mala Mojstrovka via Hanzova and to Prisank via Kopiščarjeva. P.s. stopped "measuring temperature"
