Storžič

Conditions in the hills are improving. I think midweek it will be ok for Storžič too. Anyway - in winter the approach to Storžič from the north is not over Škarjev rob, but usually through Petem žrelu - that's the gully into which Škarjev rob flows - experience is needed and the path must be found of course. Through Žrelo it also goes, but harder. Easier - still a serious winter tour - from Kališča.
Yeah, conditions lately really not good, but slowly better ...

It's true it's slowly getting better, but Friday and Saturday are forecasting a new shipment of snow, Wednesday (next week) onwards too..

If anyone goes towards Storžič, report conditions.

Cheers

Anyone who goes towards Storžič in the current conditions, no matter from which side, either doesn't realize the danger of snow avalanches or thinks Storžič is a completely safe choice, which is very-very far from the truth.

Jus, wtf are you even explaining.. When someone says something so stupid, giving that much info about his knowledge and awareness in the mountains, that it's f**k there already end of debate..
Almost like LG, just that that one has even better ideas..

There are such people who go, so don't talk nonsense. I until 7 April definitely won't go anywhere, because no promising forecast ahead.
If I ask if someone goes or about conditions, it doesn't mean I'll fly to Storžič the next day. Now when not for high mountains, I'm using weekends for mountain running.

Hello! Tomorrow I plan to head to Storžič with a buddy, interested if anyone knows current conditions. Through the gorge probably still too dangerous, would probably go through the gully or some other path. If anyone has info, I'd be very happy. We are quite experienced hikers. Thanks and LP

Steep slopes next week definitely not suitable for visit. Overnight lots of rain fell, further a severe thaw with sun and zero isotherm to 3500m expected, which will further melt snow deeply, soak it and destabilize. An icy deep layer also formed in the winter snowpack profile. No one knows when it will release, usually with warmth after about a week or a bit more.

Was up there on April 14 via Javornik pasture. Lots of company at the summit from all directions, also via Kramarjeva. No avalanche danger anymore because snow froze Sat to Sun, Sun daytime consolidated at certain height.
Least snow on south slope from Laški via hunting path. Probably to summit without snow except shoulder over 2000m. Favorite approach for me. Upper part unmarked but path well visible.
Good luck

Hello! Please those going to Storžič this weekend report conditions here. Especially interested if still much snow. I'd go with family May 1 from Kališče Hut to Storžič then over Škarjev rob to Hut under Storžič. Have 12-13yo sons quite experienced (Triglav, Ojstrica, Raduha, Begunjščica...), but wouldn't go at any cost as haven't hiked snow yet.
Glad for info on Mali Grintavec and Tolsti vrh too. Thanks!

From Kališče on snow with dry sections, to Škarjev rob no dry parts. If no snow wanted Tolsti vrh via Kriška best, but some snow there too. Nace can attach pic if hasvelik nasmehmežikanje. Regards
