Summit of Struska is windswept and dwarf pines already peeking from snow.
Skiing from top to Belska planina excellent. Gully under Korenscica to Pusti rovt less skiable due to frozen ski tracks. On Pusti rovt already bare patches. Road from Križovec to Pristava bad. More at: https://www.gore-ljudje.si/Kategorije/Novosti/stru%c5%a1ka-7

To Križovec drivable. But space only for a couple cars.
Weather yesterday 17.2. ideal. Lots of skiers and good for us hikers too since minimal sinking. On top so windy it was moving us around.

From Križovec on skis with one bare section we reached Pusti rovt, where there's very little snow. In the wind we crossed the planina and climbed the still snowy road to Belska planina and summit of Korenscica. Last meters on foot. Today's impressions from the nice path to Struska. Snow starts a bit above Belska planina, which doesn't pose major problems.

This time we headed to the slopes of Struska. From Pusti rovt towards Kočna saddle where black hellebore still blooms, climbed along and under the ridge to Korenscica and continued on Struska slopes among dwarf pines and snow to the top. 24.5.... Belska planina.... Primroses will be in full bloom this weekend. Already during my visit the meadows were glowing in blue, white and yellow. Wonderful palette of alpine flowers. Road through Savske jame already quite rough. Also ditches over Pusti rovt harder to drive. But nice in our beautiful mountains.nasmeh

Went to see primroses on Belska planina, but think I was a bit late. Luckily some flowers still on planina so didn't just see fogvelik nasmeh. When at hut it cleared a bit, but only for about 10 min, then all way to top in thick fog. Good I know the path, else would get lost among those pines. Fun though, was all alone on the whole planina.

Križovec - pl.Seča - Struska - Korenscica - Belska planina - Križovec

Yesterday we did an interesting circular tour to main summit of Struska. Started at Križovec, descended a bit back on road and via lower (mining) path reached pl.Seča and up the border ridge to Veliki vrh. Summit strewn with various primroses, yellow sunny color prevailing. Views across edge to Austria attracted, where we admired Mačenski vrh with its cut-off side leaning towards us. On the way decided to visit Korenscica too, which some mention in ridge traverse. Then down past hut on Belska pl., just before above it admired alpine flowers, which are no more on its yard. To Pusti rovt first time on road, so added something previously unknown.

The plan was Belska planina. Despite an early start, the promised clarity kept receding, so we soon realized the planina was in fog/clouds and ended in Pusti Rovt. Maybe/probably it was clear at the summit. Road to Križevec is drivable, otherwise full of ice, dynamic approach recommended.

Was on Struška today. To Križevec ... lots of mud, but if dirty car no issue, no problem.
If earlier, road to Belska planina maybe good with "microspikes", easier walking. From Belska planina on, at least mid-morning snowshoes useful, else sinks a lot, up and down not fun. Views to nearby Slovenian and farther Austrian hills nice today. Forecast for clear northern Slovenia held.

On Belska planina Avrikelj in full bloom, Gentian nearing end. Towards Struška summit still some snow but no obstacle.

Struška via Medji dol, lonely trail, met just a couple of hikers, ...
Early start from Pristava, to Trilobit off-trail.
In silence, enjoying birdsong, views of beautiful blooming meadows, without loud hikers one recharges batteries.
Plus parking free.velik nasmeh
Anyway, Struška in full bloom, on Belska planina almost all flowers bloomed out.

Picture 11 shows pyramidal cinquefoil. The yellow violet is Zois' violet. I also admired it yesterday on Struska.
