Struška

...Trilobit, Seča planina, Struška, Belska planina... This path is a bit different than from Križevci. You grind your knees for a long time. Shame, fog all the way, which revealed some bits just for a moment. Well, I checked out Skalaška, it looks good. On Seča planina they have a sign, fierce bull so I barely managed to photo the signposts in the saddle. But my chasing bullock had balls. The cow just wanted to chat. V. vrh in fog, no views sadly. It must be very nice on this path in good weather.
On Belska planina the host said they took the bullock to the valley, he couldn't take it (too many violets). Continued the path behind "Mavri", then just by feel through the scrub to Trilobit. Tour full of adventures, despite not very friendly weather. In the valley the sun was shining, bye...

Yes, up there even in fog interesting and nice. Especially this tour: Trilobit - Struška interesting winter when crust hard as concrete and you go nicely on top all the way to summit. To Mavri not yet walked.., know one goes somehow direct over Dobravski Rovt. Maybe that's it, Majda?

From Svečica hut not right on path but new road, but straight along shepherd. Can't miss it, host said. Soon to closed wood. Then path to lower forest road joining right to road from Križevci. Or take it straight down through scrub, over rovte, past weekend houses back to Trilobit. Interesting. To Struška by your description, thanks nasmeh

Today with Reksij from home up and down, and walked this variant over Dobravske rovte, Strmelo etc. to the summit of Struska and back. Walking time past Jelenkamna is cca 4.5 hrs. Skipped Mavre because it is a longer variant. More rational is the one that Majdag mentions in the previous post - past huts on Dobravske rovti, higher through forest to Križovec-Strmela road, cross it and then continue steeply through forest to the pasture..
Today was (already) a day for real photographers. Met no one all the way to the summit except two roe deer and a wheatear. Up top, a nice chat with a pair of Austrian hikers..
It was a day and a half! (knees, hips and (twisted) ankle - OK! ... 1400m ascent)

...Repeated the summer tour and that in a beautiful day. Otherwise the path from Trilobit to Seča is full of branches and fallen trees. Plus a bit of snow, so it's quite hard to pick the right direction. The old border path is a real pleasure, views in all directions. On the summit there are solar cells installed on the container. Anyway, we are doing well as long as we can enjoy such beauties that nature offers us, it won't be bad for us, bye Majdanasmeh

From foggy Ljubljana, I had to escape to the sun. The visit to Struska was the right decision. Križovec-Sedlo Kočna-Belska pasture-Seča pasture-Veliki vrh-Belska pasture. Nice loop, superb views. Nice greetings

Today short trip to Belska pasture or just to Svečica on Struska. Road to Križevec from Javorniški rovta direction quite icy, so especially the downhill drive quite nasty. Maybe better to walk.
It was quite winterly; on Pustem rovtu already strong wind, even more on Kočna, where snow in drifts and sinking even to knees, on windblown parts icy. Views to the west, to Triglav and Carinthia excellent. Crossing the western part of Struska to the pasture was like a fairytale, track made, sun nicely warming. On Svečica quite some hikers, three also skied from Veliki vrh; despite windblown slope they still found continuous snowy slope and zigzagged nicely. In front of the hut it was pleasant to sit in shelter and enjoy views towards Julijci and Stol. We descended the track, which snow-covered still does not look so scary as in summer.

Today from Križovec along the road to Belska pasture and then along the track to Struska. Last approx. 2 km below Križovec the road is icy, uphill still OK, downhill a bit of adrenalineeek Weather gorgeous beautiful though cold, views wonderful. We did not use crampons, but gaiters are handy from Belska pasture onwards.
Cold morning on Pusti Rovt1

No, but I feel like going somewhere, because right there at the top end a bit of snow has fallen.

So we went to Struskanasmeh. We took the steeper path through the foresteek. For some time it was still trampled, then we were the ones trailblazing. It was worth the effortnasmeh. A few times sinking in windblown snow even above knees, mostly just to knees. Meanwhile pleasant sun warms us, offering nice views of the valley and surrounding peaks. On the way we notice memorial to the gentleman who lost his life around here years ago. We cross pasture fence, then another 15 min to hut. Under hut snow windblown, what is left iced over. Views enchantnasmeh: Golica as on a plate, behind Kepa and Dovška baba, back there our Očak. Crazy what we are offered. We went further towards Struska, but turned after about 20 min, as it sank quite a bit, and we were already a bit tiredzadrega. At hut on Belska planina yesterday quite some visitors. One went to Veliki vrh with snowshoes, one with skis. Caretakers very friendly, likewise other hikers. We all returned down the road, which is trodden of course, but sometimes sinks stronglyzadrega. On Pustem rovtu quite windblown and cold, so quickly further.

I had a really nice time again, so thanks everyone for company, especially companionsnasmeh. Others, stay fine, nice to meet you.
This is how we trudged... it was quite strenuous in such sections1
Beautiful views gradually opened up2

We were the first to bite into this innocent snow.6

Somewhere in the middle of the scree we turned back... it was sinking quite a bit, and we were already a bit tired.11
It looked so nice, but with the wind it was quite cold.12
Such a scenery you can only wish for... how happy the caretakers must be to be here.13
Towards Vajnež and Stol.14
You can't stop looking at these Julijci ;-))...15
Behind Kepa (maybe this year), then in front Dovška Baba and Golica.16
At this scree we turned back... Struška (Veliki vrh) will wait for me, so no bad mood because today I wasn't up there.17

Really nice backdrop... it was worth the effort to trudge for such a view :-))19
To Puste rovt a quite strenuous path awaits me.20
Yeah really, winter Golica calls for a visit... maybe sometime ;-)21

Nice... I also wanted to go to Struška, but since I know there's lots of brush there I expected sinking, so such a tour fits in spring when flowers bloom up top.

Not a frequent Struška visitor.. but it remains in great memory. Asking experts, how long has the hut on Belska planina been open and what are the opening times? Is it an OSNP variant or more private? As I gather, you can get some tea even in winter... spring flowers are still far..

katty10. 02. 2012 21:50:14
Yeah, as I understood the caretakers, they'll be up till Sunday. So boldly up for tea and something "short". After 15h they'll slowly close the hut and return to the valley.

Shepherd hut renovated by Javornik Koroška Bela pasture community (old demolished, new on same spot) spring 2009. Not alpine hut but some shepherd present off-season incl. winter.., most reliable SNP.

I admit I didn't see the old hut (but it looks nicer to me than the new one), Belska planina is one of the most beautiful for me, especially because of the flowers, there's really an abundance of them. Nice that you live in such a beautiful place so you can head out with Reksi for an afternoon tour practically from your doorstep. I'll surely visit Struska many more times.nasmeh
Best regards to both.

Just for an afternoon from home (from Jesenice 4-5 hours) is a bit too much, but still Struska suits me so well that at least I rarely get in the car..
The old stone hut was also nicer to me, but unfortunately it had the drawback of being too small for all the needs of the planina or shepherds. Time moves on (unfortunately).
Best regards to you too tisa, all the best..!
