The road to Križovec IS drivable, in places, especially in the last ascent it's still a bit icy, but no serious problems for the car. Today upon exiting the forest to the barrier it was blowing hard from NW, further on the wind calmed a bit. In Pusti Rovt almost no snow left, water flowing from all sides .. From Pusti Rovt to the summit the trail is trodden and doesn't sink, although it was 13 degrees on Križovec ). Just below the summit the north wind picked up strongly again, but not freezing, at the very summit it was like it hit the north side of Struska and couldn't cross the border, swirling like mad . When I descended around noon it had already cleared a bit, but walking was still effortless and no sinking. From Belska planina I descend by road, at the second gully by shortcut to Pusti Rovt

3. 3. 2012 - Despite fog and snow pellets at Koroška Bela we hoped for the best, although at the words "There's sun up there" there were bursts of laughter. Above Pusti Rovt the sky brightened a bit, then... well I'll be damned... there really will be sun... We climbed to Veliki vrh and headed towards Medji dol, but since we went too downhill we missed the direction of course. No problem... crashing through bushes where it sank up to our b..s brought us to Zijalke too, then we smartly corrected back to Belska planina and down to the valley. Wonderful day in great company!

Once there was a cross on the summit, which I think just marked the top and wasn't put up for any religious purpose I think, but some "mountaineering enthusiast" pushed it over the edge. It's still on the photos. With this people just show their respect for others and nature. Otherwise nice trip and I warmly recommend it to everyone!

Past the little lake by Trilobit hut, steeply through forest to planina Seča, then to Medvedje sedlo, along the old border path to the summit (Austrian markers). From summit along the path beautified by cairns to planina Svečice (Belska planina) to the open hut for coffee, from there directly back down to Trilobit. This last path is unmarked, starts right at the first bend of the road from the yard down to valley, but half of it is very well trodden. Then it was a bit more by nose along tracks and past numerous small planinas, but the result was right, as the last cart track led out a bit below Trilobit hut. Whole path without peculiarities, no snow, not too muddy, day cloudless, fresh and pleasant for walking. Only the heart was heavy today, very heavy. When your closest one leaves forever, mountains are also comforters.

... Even at this time Struška can be an interesting hike. Today from Trilobit along the old border path. Ascent to V. vrh via this path is the nicest for me. It is quite steep through Medji dol, but then you're rewarded with views, if no fog. At the top wind, as always, then descent to the hut and along the path (Za Mavri) to the forest road. Then just by feel across rovte back to the car.

Today after short illness I sought a slightly easier goal, though it turned out a bit differently later. Road to Dom Pristava dry, further towards Križevec icy or smoothed snow on it (drivable with 4x4 or chains). I went on foot along road to Pustem rovta. From there turned to Kočna saddle and further along ridge on border path. Part of path had track made on flat, so turned left directly to summit. Little snow so crossings over brushwood took much time. Sank to knees, sometimes more. Took exactly four hours to summit. Returned via normal path to Planina Svečica and tractor track back to start. For ascent recommend approach via Planina Svečica, because border path ascent strenuous due to brushwood and too little snow. lp miro

... Road already soon above Pristava icy, all the way to Križovci, not for every car. Further lightly frozen snow, some ice too, no problems. From Belska planina towards Struška from hole to hole, but it was fun anyway. Views, you know, walk forward and look back, never enough of these nice mountains and hills for me. On top snow blown away, downhill it sank more already. So we made a good track. Hope someone will use it over the holidays too, happy trails Majda

What about sledding from Belska planina, would it go, have hikers smoothed the road?

...iztok76 - around twelve the snow was already all softened, grinding under the feet. So sledding at least now off, čav

Struska has a very nice approach, although not quite short, the tour makes up for it with exceptional views and constant sun plus lots of snow. The path from Dom Pristava is snowshoe-trodden and cramponed to Pusti Rovt. From there around the road I approached today as first after snowfall, some other pairs of skiers, boarders had already shredded from the top. They climbed either up the central gully that cuts the upper path, more feasible though directly up to Svečica from the road leading down to Medji Dol. Southern slopes are now hardened and safe from avalanches, but dangerous for slipping without proper gear. Lower down snow-crust in the forest also breaks through and not for skiing, even less for walking. To Struska summit via western ridge only with snowshoes or skis, because south still lots of cornices, now somewhat more stably frozen, under load can still drag hiker into hard smooth toboggan far down valley. Description also on TK gora, attaching pics, LP .
