Hello, I'm most interested in how to get to Kredarica from Krma. Triglav doesn't attract us much, but we really want to go to Kredarica in winter time. Do you need winter gear to Kredarica or could it be done without and if the path is trodden so you can't get lost. Thanks in advance

As for the path from Krma to Kredarica no problem, path trodden, but at some places maybe a bit icy, but very "easy" walking if you put on crampons.

Hi, on Tuesday 8.2.2011, three friends from Ribnica decided to try to conquer Triglav. After six hours walking from Krma we reached the top. Since we were on Triglav for the first time in winter conditions the satisfaction was great
Conditions are quite good, big problem is the southern snow on Mali Triglav.
I recommend setting off to the summit in early morning hours, because the snow is still frozen. Otherwise it was a very nice day with lots of visitors.
Since it was a national holiday we also hoisted the Slovenian flag on the top
Warning: YOU NEED TO HIKE IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH ALL WINTER GEAR!

Bravo to all who stepped onto Triglav! So, guys from Ribnica, you made it! On the way you said you would try to go to the top and I wished you success. I only went to Kredarica.

gregcs1, great that you didn't go the normal route! Beautiful pics, especially the exposure is magnificent... The traverse already looks more like a "road" , I believe the fresh snow "fixed" that. Great ascent!

gregcs1, those photos of yours are really something special, bravo .
But the thread after record temperatures 14 days ago kind of died  . Back then in the middle of the day on the way back to the valley we met crowds of enthusiastic hikers loaded with skis, boards, backpacks, without, ... who wanted to feel 5 degrees on Kredarica and a bit less on Triglav on their own skin, now ..... real winter again .
A few more impressions from 14 days ago.

On Friday afternoon we headed in cold and nice weather from Krma to Kredarica. On Kredarica in the evening thermometer showed -18 degrees with wind gusts up to 100 km per hour with clear sky and lights in the valley. On Saturday morning weather turnaround with fog and wind so nothing with ascent to Triglav. After breakfast to the valley, quite a few hill climbers were ascending. Nothing to do, sometimes you just have to turn around.
