From Komna to Triglav Lakes? I'm interested in how exposed it is to snow avalanches on this path. I'm not planning to go now, when so much snow has fallen, but in about a week, when the conditions (I hope) settle a bit. Otherwise I'm used to winter ascents but mostly walked in Karavanke. Best regards from Kranj P

The path is relatively safe from avalanches. Maybe the biggest danger is up to Komna, further the path goes through plateau terrain. But you need some sense of orientation on the path. Winter markers help.

From Vogar past Planina pri Jezeru to Dedno Polje a track is made, further no. Above 1500m ca 1m snow, it sinks! Smart to have snowshoes or touring skis, otherwise slogging. From Komna direction from Črno Jezero some footprints visible, on west path no track. lp

At Triglav Lakes always nice. To Double Lake from June no special, watch hot sun and afternoon storms. From Double Lake to Prehodavci might still some snow.

Hey! Yeah last year New Year's at the seven. And full moon too, so we went to Ledvičko down hill "sliding on butt." And very nice, moon shone on snow so winter charm even greater. LP :-) DOPPS

How's the path over Komarča? Because if I saw right you went on it to the hut at 7J, maybe you know if it's trodden towards Komna. Best regards everyone

Path over Komarča is dry to the top and o.k.. Snow starts just before Black Lake, from there only track to 7J. Didn't notice track to Komna. In Lopučniški primeval forest over 2m snow in exposed spots (sinking between bushes under light weight:-)) Lots of fun and good boots! lp

In my estimate, as an average hiker who has already done this path, it's about 10 hours of walking.

The total path is about 24 km and about 1400 m elevation gain. Pure walking time is about 11 hours by my estimate. For total time, add time for major breaks. Lp Janez

Hi, I'm wondering where to get data on when it's suitable to go on a path. Today I've been checking all day if it's smart to go over komarča tomorrow but no data. Weather is forecast to worsen in the morning but if I start early and cross komarča by 9:00 .... and return via komna. What do you suggest??? Thanks Lp Tš

I suggest you stay nicely at home tomorrow. Komarča won't run away and neither will the rest, but thunderstorms can spoil your trip and much more

Ivo, thanks It seemed smart to me to drop this path for tomorrow. I'll quickly go instead over Ratitovec to Soriško planino, at least there's a chance of clearing. LP Tš

Please tell me the best circular route to visit all Triglav Lakes, same start and end point, time up to 4 days with some summit bagged. And no climbing in between of course, since dog is coming along. Thanks.

For the dog the best route starts at Vojah. From here two options: on foot to Vogar or by car to Pl.Blato, then continue to nearby Pl.at Lake. Most comfortably past Pl.Ovčarija, over Prode, to Trigl.double lake - onward visit all upper lakes, return back, then nice under Vršaki, to Vratca (passage between Zelnarica and Last Vog), right short climb to it, where view from bird's perspective on Trig.lakes is really ideal! Back via Nice Pl. Dedno polje - Pl.at Lake - Blato. The-End. LPP. Rok

hi I have a question on this topic. I'd like info on how it is if at planina Ovčarija you go right to Štapc then over Tičarica further to Hribarice and to path towards Prehodavci (and maybe walking time too), to make a circular route, not going through valley of seven mountains and valleys. thanks best Mojca
