I'm wondering what the conditions are like to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih nasmeh

If there's still snow on Veliko polje, then also at Triglav Lakes. The shorter path goes via Komarča, which is definitely bare. Ice axe is mandatory (maybe still snow at the end of the upper plateau) and snowshoes to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih.

You don't need ice axe over Komarča.

This year I'd like to go to Triglav Lakes with kids (9 and 11 years old). Wondering if anyone knows a route from Pokljuka to Triglav Lakes. Important to me is start at Pokljuka, goal Triglav Lakes; return route doesn't have to end at Pokljuka.
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

From Pokljuka the easiest way to Triglav Lakes is over Jezerski preval-Lazovski preval-Pl.v Lazu-Pl pri Jezeru. Overnight at the hut there, in the morning continue to Pl. Dedno polje-pass Štapce-Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih 1685m.
You can also go from Vodnikov dom along Velska dolina over Hribarice 2358m to Koča na Dolič, overnight there. In the morning past or up nearby Kanjavec 2568m, then descend to the highest Triglav lakes (Rjava mlaka, Zeleno jezero, Mlaka v laštah and lake under Vršac), to Zasavska koča. Then the path leads along Triglav Lakes valley past Jezero v Ledvicah all the way to Koča pri Triglavskih jezerih.
Both tours are nice in their own way, the upper one more scenic and complete regarding viewing the lakes and surrounding mountains.

Well, already when you write about small ones, I was with my six-year-old also around Triglav Lakes. We started in the afternoon from planina Blato, via planina Jezero, then via Stapce to Triglav Lakes. Second day from there via Mala Ticarica and little Zelenica to Prehodavci, third day we returned. The kid was a bit tired, maybe because he was observing everything around. But I must say he has really super stamina, he's used to walking :-)

Yesterday my girl and I headed to the hut at double lake from Blato pasture. A little before Planina pri jezeru snow starts which sinks considerably. Worst around Ovčarija pasture and around Triglav Lakes hut. Whoever decides on this route soon should have strong will because it's very strenuous. Outbound via Prode, return via Štapce. Path via Štapce dry to the top, otherwise no path trodden. We also went to Mala Tičarica, from Štapce on path mostly dry, cross only snowy slope below summit. Summit rocky. No winter gear needed. Fun fact, first entry in logbook since November nasmeh

I think signing the books is smart. Not to "brag" and let know you were up there, but so if something happens to you they know approx where to search for you...

Is there a stamp for Slovenian mountain trail or transversal in the winter room?
The mountain hut is closed after all...

Visited the hut yesterday. Went from pl.Blato (they're already collecting toll from Saturday until 31.10.2011)zavijanje z očmi over Prode. Path is mostly dry, here and there a patch of snow that's blown away. At the hut we were almost alone, there were six of us in 3 hours. We treated ourselves to a long rest with sunbathing and of course snack from backpack.nasmeh Weather wonderful and windless by the hut, views for godsnasmeh. Returned via Štapce, where a bit more snow (from top towards Ovčarija). Sometimes sinks to your butt..eek At Planina pri Jezeru it got a bit cloudy, when we arrived at car strong wind blew and carried clouds of pollen (all yellow) over Bohinj already raining..velik nasmeh
Sunday was wonderful, hope there are many more..nasmehmežikanje
