Today I did the ascent to Turkish Mountain via Turski couloir and have to admit it charmed me. The ascent is interesting, varied, beautiful and generally has everything a "decent" mountaineer wants. I'm raving but can't help it. Conditions interest you more of course: Snow from the start before the Hut below Rinka Waterfall, but crampons conditionally necessary only before the boulder before the couloir. Path trodden to couloir exit, then windblown snow and some ice. Track is (now) trodden, but with poor visibility up there you can easily get lost in just a few 100m. Ascent otherwise unproblematic, descent you can slide on your ass from boulder on as you like. Don't recommend to beginners, needs quite some fitness anyway. LP Jure

Through Turski couloir yesterday quite some hikers, boarders and ski tourers went. At the exit from the couloir skiers mostly turned right towards Rinkas, hikers except a few exceptions to Turkish Mountain. At the top we celebrated our culture day with Slovenian flag. CONDITIONS: In the morning snow was just right for walking, no postholing, in the couloir "steps" made anyway. Upper part partly frozen but no issues. Crampons and ice axe mandatory. Descent a bit trickier as snow got soft. Hardest part of the path as mentioned from Okreselj farm to Eagle's Nest i.e. Rinka waterfall. Car can be driven right to the turning point.

I would add to this debate what struck me on the way to Turska on 8.2.2011. Everything was "in" – sun, conditions, views... When you pass the "yellow" markings and even big needs done on the path to the summit of Turska (on the path), you think a bit.. and probably that mountaineer was equipped with "full winter gear" LP

If that guy had an ice axe with him, he could dig a hole for big need and cover it up like some animals do

I noticed yellow markings, obviously the force was really strong :-) Well, by summer all good, though it doesn't look nice, I agree. Especially under the boulder where most stop for crampons.

Unfortunately not just "yellow markings" with which animals mark territory. People shit directly on trodden path, wipe ass nicely and leave like pigs.

Obviously a new animal specimen appeared in Slovenian high mountains -> high alpine pig (monte homo svinjos)

-Jerry- hopefully they won't "clone" themselves then we'll have....

Yeah, I distinguish between animal tracks, hehe, these beasts were stomping on two legs with crampons Jerry, you should patent this Latin name.

Today's conditions: on Turska gora, from exit of Turski žleb onwards new snow mostly blown off, base however especially below summit mostly icy so need to be quite careful and very strong wind was blowing. Conditions through Turski žleb see under Rinka. Unfortunately on Turska today again accident

My girl and I were today on Turska mountain. Path to Okrešelj without issues. Conditions in couloir solid, only problem wind blew away track so first walker got really tired as nasty posthole formed breaking through. Otherwise wonderful clear day much nicer than forecast. Thanks again to Maribor guys who helped push car morning in Logarska valley :-) (didn't follow Little Gobar's advice from last week). Regards.

rb01, on the second pic my colleague and I, as Rok83 wrote, walking was strenuous, on Saturday I was the one first making steps in soft snow as previous day they slid down there so no tracks, otherwise very nice. lp
