Look at this pic (18.06.2011) and it'll be clear, without crampons and ice axe it won't go for a while!

That's how david12 wrote it. Yes, without crampons and ice axe.

Many things can be done, but here it's neither safe nor smart!nasmeh

Hi,

on Thursday I plan to go along the path through Kotliče, wondering if anyone knows if there's still snow on the path, as I have neither ice axe nor crampons.

Best. Nejc

Is Turski Gully already passable without winter gear? If anyone was up there these days, please write.

Condition on 1.7.2011.......Turski Gully is fully passable without winter gear. From Turska Peak towards Kamniško Saddle there was still a snow patch over the drop somewhere on the path.

interested in how long time-wise the path Okrešelj- Turska gora- Brana- Kamniško sedlo- Okrešelj takes, and the difficulty of the path. thanks for info, lp

For the whole thing
waterfall - Turski gully - Turska mountain - Kotliči - Brana - Kamniško s. Okrešelj - waterfall. I think: 8 - 10 hours. Demanding is Turski gully and Kotliči (depending on who). In Kotliči caution is needed due to slipping (scree on path), also towards the exit from Turski gully one needs to be more careful on scree field. Otherwise everything is equipped with appropriate protections and marked.

Is anyone going on Saturday 6.8.2011 from Jermanec over the Saddle to Turska mountain?

On Sunday my colleague and I walked the path from Kamniška Bistrica to the saddle then to Turska mountain descent via Turski gully to Okrešelj back to Kamniško saddle and to the car in Kamniška Bistrica. Very nice tour 10 hours.

I read something that the protections might not be ok. So we went with the little one to check. One and a half day tour from Kamniška Bistrica to saddle, sleep at very friendly caretakers, on Wednesday to Turska mountain then to Cojzova and descent to Bistrica (Very long way on foot to village from cable car; didn't see depth on cars zmeden Better that way). The little one held up great zavijanje z očmi
We're already sweaty. It wasn't early.1

krasovc, I think we met at Turska mountain. We were those three who couldn't decide where to go. Nice that you made it to the valley; we were actually worried when on return we heard thunder.

Oh yeah; And did you then nicely slide down the scree? But I must say towards Cojzova nothing was heard, except some drops near the hut. But from Bistrica in the evening it looked quite cloudy.

No no, we went the normal way. We tried but sent some huge rocks down the scree, and decided it's better to climb back up. Maybe we just imagined the thunder hehe. But we decided to definitely try some path you described. Especially those to Križ sound good.

Today I did the tour Logarska dolina - Turska mountain, namely up through Turski gully, back via Kotliči and with descent on shortcut. This shortcut descent is recommended in the new guide 55 insured climbing paths, but I wouldn't recommend it. The path (as much as there is) is not marked with cairns, upper part is total mess, so I don't recommend for descent (up would be ok), except for lovers of searching remote routes. Helmet is mandatory, if not alone, then stay either very close or far apart. Lower part is more like scree than anything else. But still saves time compared to marked path via Kotliči.
Turska gora was still in the clouds in the morning1
Rescue from the wall at the entrance to Turski žleb, the helicopter flew there for about an hour2
Down from the beginning of Turski žleb3
Start of the excellently secured climbing path.4
The climbing ends all too quickly.5

Yup, rockfall. Helmet mandatory!11
Carefully on the right12
The path appears, from here it is somewhat easier.13

Chamois, they throw stones because of me, even quite large ones.15
In the afternoon it cleared up.16
