I don't take anyone "with me", because I have a complex about slow walking . I'm joking, I like going in company too, especially if I'm exploring paths I haven't walked yet.
Last time on Peca it struck me that there are also northern approaches to these beautiful Carinthian mountains that I don't know. And the decision is made; on Saturday I'm going to Koprivna and probably to Olševa. I plan to sleep at the Kumer farm and explore further the next day. If the weather is good, and if I really get into it, I can stay until Monday...
Well, this is the plan for the weekend, think about it and let me know. Best regards

Enough foggy mornings in the valley, I want to go somewhere in the sun, and not too far; Sunday – Uršlja Gora; start from Sleme side, as usual there; leave the car a bit off the road and head right on the path, which is quite dry, not slippery, not muddy, and no snow-white yet. The fog cleared pretty quickly, and Sleme is high enough, 1080m, above this gray cover. Quite a few sun enjoyers took advantage of the escape from the valley, on the way we overtook a group with about 20 kids and parents......; the hut is of course open, lots of people... At the top no wind and warm sunshine – looking down reveals a sea of fog in the valley – oh, "poor down there"; after about an hour of lounging and "enjoying" (it even reddened my cheeks a bit), sadly had to leave the "paradise" and descend to the foggy valley; conditions of course in pictures; lp

Since I expected more snow, I went today from Sleme to Uršlja Gora.
I'd somewhat forgotten how steep this path is.
But at the top disappointment - almost no snow. In light wind and partly cloudy, at -2 degrees, I admired the surrounding mountains.
Descended via Kotnikov vrh.

From October to May the hut is open on weekends. The hut opens on Saturday at 8 am and closes on Sunday at 3 pm. In case of heavy snowfall or difficult access to the hut, it is closed.

Garmont, at least you had views of the surrounding mountains, I had just one big fog on Sunday afternoon. I approached from Ivarčko jezero, and good that it was foggy and I didn't take photos, because otherwise those good 1000 elevation meters I wouldn't have done in the time those speedy Carinthians predicted at the start. It's good that something remains for next time

08.12.2011. K24 leads me over Sleme, Ciganija, where the day ends. At Križan I prepare for the last test, ascent to Uršlja. The darkness already takes 10% of my power. Now I have nice moon accompaniment and no wind. At the hut: entry and look at thermometer (-5 degrees), sip of water and continue to the opposite side. To Luž more carefully because of stones, later I feel already more safe. When icy patches are behind me, the trail becomes again more demanding, in place of snow here is thick blanket of leaves. Before I reach the logging road, the reflection of animal eyes also shows. On the road at the car, I get rid of gear and put on slippers. Due to curiosity how much power I have left I run to Zerjav.

Janezs, I congratulate you, as this path is even in good weather conditions long and fitness demanding. I can't imagine the ridge of Olševa at night, in wind and snow, or to Raduha from north with headlamp.
Regarding opening topics maybe it would be sensible to open a new one right under title K24.

Today I ascended Uršlja Gora via Železarska path from Ivarčko jezero. Fantastic tour for building fitness! I think I experienced one of the most beautiful days in the Koroška mountains, although I was alone. I started the tour just before one in the afternoon and was back at the car near half past four. On the way up I met three hikers, at the hut and summit I was completely alone. I didn't notice tracks from the hut to the top, so I conclude I was the only one on the summit today, as indicated by the logbook (last entry 18.12 - seems a bit strange to me, maybe people signed elsewhere, or I messed up in haste). Once again, wonderful afternoon, enhanced by winter idyll all along the path (especially at the top). "Urška", see you soon again!

As much as I saw today, they are not preparing for the ski season yet. Quite sad, as the infrastructure is quite decent.
