Dejan, you'll lure even me, not a winter one, into such tours with your reports. Anyway small language remark: Saisera, Montasio, Lussari all have nice Slovenian names. I usually mention foreign name only first in brackets (for info, as some know it better or signs have only that), otherwise if Slovenian known, use it, esp if widespread (not overdoing with Solnograds and Inomosts ). Congrats on the tour and good luck ahead!

It works when you have fitness and feel between crampon and snow, of course with constant caution, especially now with little snow, so nothing breaks off, slips from under feet. Igor's ascent via couloir, especially descent, was incomparably harder, suitable really only for good mountaineers with mileage and experience. It's not just ascent, but timely reading terrain ahead, if you don't read it, you're in trouble.Congrats to both.

Every ascent is completely specific, both terrain-wise and regarding the mountaineer himself; it's general.

All the time I felt that Dejan's description was missing something. Only after reading viharnik's expert analysis did it all clear up for me!

Is this possible? TRBIŽ – In the Italian Julian Alps a tragedy occurred that took the lives of two Slovenian alpinists. According to our unofficial information it should be Igor Zlodej, an excellent mountain expert who also took part several times in the famous hike that we at Slovenske novice named Hundred Women on Triglav. The Bovec man was a retired policeman from the Mountain Police Unit and also a member of the local mountain rescuers' society. With him there was supposedly also Tatjana Maze from Ljubljana. http://www.slovenskenovice.si/crni-scenarij/doma/foto-v-alpah-umrla-igor-zlodej-tatjana-maze

I immediately thought of it when I read on rtvslo.si that he's from Bovec and experienced too. I knew he often went on tours with some woman. But I just thought... and was even more shocked when I opened hribi.net. Rest in peace!

When I was in Bovec with him for a drink, he'd just come from skiing Žleba Kanin, his eyes were shining with excitement. He loved mountains a lot. I best remember some winter picture of his view through the hole in a snow-covered spruce. Too early a great and experienced mountain connoisseur has departed, my condolences.

His last written word here on the forum was "Montaž" on riddles, on 30.03. We'll miss his mountain knowledge, his comments, his tour descriptions, boldness and general love of mountains in all seasons. His tour descriptions here on this forum remain written and will live on like that. We're glad we had him here among us, as he enriched everyone's mountain knowledge, in picture and word. Rest in peace!
