Igor and I were colleagues and yesterday was truly sad. Igor, my deep bow. Both loved going to the mountains so much that they were closer to the stars, now they are among the stars closer to the mountains. Rest in peace. Sincere condolences to both families.

During a sleepless night I'm pondering how the death of a barely known mountaineer can stir us up so much. I corresponded with him on the forum and also met him on the trail and talked with him; still, the shock I felt when I read the news is disproportionately greater than one could expect. Every mountaineer knows that when going on a trip, he puts his life into the hands of fate, that it's not only up to him if he'll return home in the evening. I think Igor represented for many, certainly at least for me, that hidden naive and deceptive thought that "if I have enough knowledge and am cautious enough nothing bad will happen to me". He safely hiked more than 10 hikers do in a whole lifetime. What went wrong this time will most likely remain a mystery and actually it's not important at all. I take this misfortune with the thought that you were where you liked it best and that you wanted to tell us one last time that THERE IS NEVER ENOUGH CAUTION. Thanks, Igor, and to both a happy and safe step on this last, hardest ascent.

He gave me numerous ideas and helped me to reach peaks above Kobarid, Bovec, Trenta in his footsteps myself. Whenever I drove towards Bovec I remembered him. And read his notes about that Veliki Lemež and did the tour and about Srebrnjak, Trentski Pelc, Čisti vrh, Travnik, Goličica....We met once at Kalvarija under Kredarica, second time at Kredarica. I waited for him until he returned from Triglav. Together in the hut we exchanged some words, then Igor and Na***a invited me to descend together to Krma.

He was one of the biggest advocates that Aljaž Tower stays where it has been for over 100 years. Igor, guard it so those moles don't carry it to the valley.
