Viš via Pagoda position-Divja koza-Trbiška Krniška špica
Saisera-via F.L.del Orso we climbed to Koštrunove špice. From Mojzesova škrbina then up the secured part, but not far. We branched off a bit to the left gully, which leads to the saddle where Kugy-SW couloir exits. Before that to the right onto the ledge and along the ridge to the summit. We also visited Divja Koza and Trbiška Krniška špica. No special features I-II climbing.

Via Zajzera - Pellarini - NE couloir - Viš - Anita Goitan - Trbiška škrbinica - Žabniška škrbina - Pellarini - Zajzera.
There is just enough snow at the entrance to NE couloir to go under it to the first peg, on the path itself to the summit there are some pegs, cairns and a few cables for better orientation. The least visible is the right path in the last part, when it joins the normal path to Viš.
Descent via Anita Goitan to Trbiška škrbinica nicely secured, descent from the notch is one big messjezik.
Yesterday was a gorgeous day, today had to go get maps...velik nasmeh

Does anyone know the conditions for Viš - starting point Cave del Mole, direct route and Anita Goitan? Is there any snow on the path?

On Saturday 30.9. there was quite some snow on Anita Goitan and on the normal route to the top of Viš, on ledges above around 2300 m. But it was proper spring slush and sinking even to the knees, quite annoying...

How are the markings otherwise? Are they well visible?

There are enough marks or red dots so that the path is well visible.

Indeed, time flies. On Sunday it was one year since they last headed to the mountains. Since I was in the Karnic Alps on Sunday, after the hike I lit a candle for them too in the village church in memory...

Yesterday planned with a friend to Viš. Started hiking from the road at 2:30 AM. Snow starts some 150-200 elevation meters below Viška planina. Snowshoes are properly needed to the planina. From the planina onwards, the snow was very varied, but mostly the crust does not hold human weight, so at times sinking even to the waist. To the Corsi hut from the planina we needed almost two hours (5:45). I decided for the winter room, the friend tried further. He struggled for two hours and climbed less than 300 m (snow sinks here even more than to the hut), then decided and turned back, as with the sun it started avalanching from the slopes.

I'll ask my colleague and post in the next few days. Definitely the gully under the koča is well snow-covered, and that jump 300m above the koča, where the summer path goes under the rock, still has enough snow so it doesn't pose problems

Here... unfortunately not the best for understanding the conditions

Viš from Saisere (28.04.18)

No need, but I still went past bivouac Mazzeni to Špranja. At this time it's good to climb through the hard gullies. The lower part will still be surely snow-covered for another two weeks, so no need to detour to Mojzesova škrbina. The via ferrata is dry, due to shady position ascend via Pagoda Position to the summit. Descent to Preduh to light a candle. Return past Mojzes and ascent to Koštrunove špice, which are already quite dry. Descent to Prednja Špranja and through the gullies back to morning start. About 15m snow in them. At these temps ascent from Preduh to summit will soon be dry. More snow between Corsiju and Preduhom.
Good luck

It would be nice if Slovenian names were used for Slovenian valleys - in this case Zajzera.

If nothing else, in honor of giants like Henrik Tuma.

True, Drago you're absolutely right. We should talk about Majcen not Mazzeni.

Once you take the time and start discovering old Slovenian names of mountains, hills, pastures and villages on the other side of the border, you can hardly believe how beautiful place names were used back then. And what ugly distortions (in some places) are used today for once proud Slovenian names of these places, both under the Julian and the Carnic Alps.

Tonight to the summit past Corsi and the window. Snow gear stayed in the backpack, snow can be completely avoided or bypassed, of course if you know the path. Right after the window it's smart to keep left and off-trail straight to the summit. For low boots lovers, even gojzarji are no longer necessary (recommended Vibram as rocks around the window are very wet). Corsi officially still closed, but you can get a beer big

16.6. we all set off on the normal route to the summit. Only two short but annoying snow patches need to be crossed, which will melt in a week or two, everything super just the summit was in fog.
But I would add one negative comment and hope not to offend anyone. Many people didn't return home from the mountains, as marked by inscriptions and monuments. It's right not to forget them, but candles don't belong in the mountains in my opinion.
Yesterday I also left a bouquet of flowers in the valley and removed 6 burned-out candles that spoiled the beauty of the mountains.

On Monday I went to Viš via the easiest route (from Corsija straight to the summit). The weather was foggy, so there were not many views. No snow anywhere anymore. At the site of last year's accident my thoughts wandered back when Igor posted trip reports and shared advice generously. I imagined how tough the conditions were last year and that one small mistake caused the tragedy. This part is demanding even when dry, let alone in the snow.
