But does anyone know if the Anita Goitan path is dry?

On the section where the path from Gamsova matere joins the normal path there is a short (ca 2 m), steep and dangerous snowfield.

Hello! Has anyone gone to Viš via the northeast couloir recently? What's the path condition like? Thanks nasmeh

If you don't get an answer from anyone, then I can tell you that in the lower part you definitely need to cross the snowfield to the start of the wall. Ice axe, crampons are pretty necessary, although we've gone through without them too.

Good luck

Hi,

not sure if I'm asking in the right thread.. but given that the Corsi hut is practically under this mighty mountain, hope I'll get answers to 2 short questions:
- is rif.Corsi still open continuously, or only on weekends
- and is the spring at the hut still "current", meaning one can count on fresh water there for a multi-day tour

Thanks & LP.

Corsi hut is open at least this month, maybe into October too, caretaker Cristiano is the last one this year in this wonderful hut and will "extend" a bit into October because of that.
Water can always be got under Kapna wall, but if climbing directly from Viška planina - via German route to hut then earlier cross two streams, water mostly flows along the path almost everywhere to the hut.
If hut is open you have free water from tap outside hut. If hut closed then right behind it there's a nice bivouac-little cabin that's always open.
Lots of enjoyment and good luck, Sly.

Hello
The path to Viš via SV Deber (Gola Nord East) was on 16.9.2018 completely normally passable and excellently secured. Snowfield can be bypassed without problems on the left side, so winter gear can stay home.
Pelarini and Corsi were open. Path is incredibly beautiful with fixed protections only where really needed.

Viš 27.9. 2018. Several years have passed since I was on Viš. Yesterday was the day you could only wish for. At the stone cross by the road I turned onto gravel and left car at the barrier. Can go there. To Corsi it said 2 hours. Pretty unknown for me. But no problems. From hut to summit all marked too. Caretaker warned me to use helmet when in the wall. Also because of ibex that can trigger rocks. Otherwise need to look for some red dot, but path well visible to top. Views yesterday really nice. Could see all to sea and white peaks far away. Really didn't hurry. Took time at summit too. Older guy brought drone and buzzed with it on the mountain. Otherwise really nice tour in wonderful blue all day.

Yes I meant drone. nasmehGod have mercy on them. Let them go somewhere else with that buzzing. Definitely doesn't belong on the mountain. Thanks panda.

Sunday was really the chosen day for visiting Viš, as the views were phenomenal and reached right to the sea.
We went up to Mojzesovo škrbino and higher took a scenic walk to Gamsova mater, where the paths join. Then along the normal route to the top. We stepped on both, the more eastern and western.

On the path met two who also read hribi-net, but write nothing. Looks like there are more like thatnasmeh

In picture 15 in Ločanka's post are the western and eastern Simonyspitze, both over 3400, approach from Matrei to Virgental valley and one valley further, as to Venediger, huts Essener and Rostocker Hütte. Grossvenediger is 7 km as the crow flies northeast.

Yesterday afternoon there was supposed to be nice weather for photographing the sunset. I got a nice snow blizzard, strong wind gusts and very low temperatures instead. Too bad the camera didn't hold out to the top but it was still wonderful. Winter conditions with powdery snow and ice below it. I put a new logbook in the box, which I've missed for a long time.

Today on Viš. First, I involuntarily got wet in the stream, which cooled me nicely to Corsi. Conditions to the top actually very good, wind-processed snow, Saturday hiker left nice tracks. Strenuous ascent, the steep bits don't stop and it's steep all the way. Still, the pleasure at the summit pays it all.

Behind the shed (quite hidden spot) at Corsi I left a black fleece. On return it was gone. Whoever took it, please send me a PM. I wanted to pick it up on the way back, thought no one would see it, but some nosy person found it and thought it was forgotten. I'll call the police if maybe it was left there.
