Bovec is far from being all Primorska.

True, Gorenjci know much better how to care for tourists. Immeasurable obligingness of Bohinjci and free parking at every step... Well, it's quite a stupid thing to generalize the whole region to one place.

In such heat it's no wonder the markers are poorly visible, everything shimmers, and full moon on Saturday too. But it's positive that the cable car is operating, right? Otherwise the above posts wouldn't exist!

Yes, @tulipan, with the last statement you hit the essence. Do you have at home everything freshly painted too, or is something already worn out and in need of renovation? @raubšic, I hope we meet sometime and chat, preferably over a drink. To see who likes chamois, birds,... more. Come to Styria sometime, you're welcome. There are chamois on Pohorje too, equally shy as yours.

Then join the markacists' action sometime. They're already volunteers dedicating their time for you so you can find your way easier. Not to mention how they drag heavy steel cables up there, tools and various pegs, staples, etc

@Ljubitelj gora, positive criticism should never provoke a response like the one you gave. Has it occurred to you that not everyone knows all the paths as well as you and markings help us? We know markacists are volunteers and do it from the heart and enjoy it, biggest thanks to them. P.S. Let's be a bit more patient for once and not criticize everything indiscriminately. Heat certainly isn't the cause.

Some should have the already visible trail marked every 2m because they don't know the path or haven't been there yet. Yeah Gorenjci are anyway laaaaaaw since they have everything flat.Bovčani charge them parking at the lower cable car station for Kanin price about 3€ per hour Gorenjci are fast walkers anyway, so it won't be a bad price for about 5h hike.

Every officially categorized path must be properly maintained. Regardless of whether Primorci, Gorenjci or Štajerci manage it. Markacists do a lot of work voluntarily, I do it myself, but if there's a comment, we try to fix it. The PD managing that path is responsible for poor path marking, not the entire population of that region as some claim! Regards

In good weather, missing a marking or its fading on Kanin slopes shouldn't be a big problem, as the terrain is bare and paths and summits are clearly visible and recognizable. In bad weather, when fog covers the slopes, even the freshest Knafelj markings don't help much ...

We hiked the path to High Kanin last Saturday. The path to Prestreljenik and to Kanin is well marked and there are no problems. On the way back from the summit to the upper cable car station we went to Dom Petra Skalarja over the slopes, where we got into fog (which wasn't too dense). Direction lines and cairns guided us nicely to Dom Petra Skalarja and on to the upper cable car station. Some markings could really be redrawn, but it was possible to follow the path nicely. Just needed a bit more caution because the terrain is full of holes and pits.

Hello! Is it necessary to have an ice axe and crampons for entering Julija? Thanks for the answer.

Hello! Since Dom Petra Skalarja on Kanin is closed, please provide information on where one could stay overnight for a multi-day visit to the Kanin massif. Thanks for the answer and regards.

Bivouac under Mulc, Bivouac Marušič and Gilberti hut - of course no need to emphasize that it's all in Italy. About the opening schedule or keys for the bivouac on our side, ask in Bovec at the cafe.

Gozdec - Veliki dol - Zadnji dol - High Kanin - Dolgi prodi - Vrh Osojnic - Dom Petra Skalarja - Gozdec Out of curiosity about how much has changed in two years since the last visit with the gondola renovation, I set off with a colleague. The wonderful path from Gozdec still remains lonely and untouched, upon reaching the summit it changes. People swarm everywhere en masse, tourism is fine, only Dom Petra Skalarja is closed and waiting for renovation... Quick descent from the hut back to the path towards Gozdec into peaceful solitude. The cold spring by the path at the forest edge is refreshing after the long tour The summit logbook is full.
