The lower part was completely overgrown a few years ago, markings still visible, but the path practically impassable. The upper part could be walked quite normally a few years ago.

Yesterday, in a beautiful morning after a long drive, we started from Tolminskih Raven to planina Razor and on to Vogel. On the way back also to Zabiški Kuk. Strong wind on the ridge that didn't bother us too much. On the planina good snack with friendly staff. nasmeh

Yesterday by gondola to Rjava skala, then in beautiful sunny morning over Šija to Vogel and Žabiški Kuk. Already early morning mists started appearing from the coastal side, which later occasionally covered individual peaks. Quite some visits on Šija and Vogel, on Žabiški Kuk, which is like a balcony pushed to the coastal side, we two were alone. Here we took time for rest and sat quite a while enjoying the views..

I recommend circular: Ski hotel - Pl. Zadnji Vogel - Konjski preval - Vrh nad Škrbino - Razor - Vogel - Ski hotel.
For this you need approx 8 hours and Rodica doesn't go here.

Hello,
wondering what the conditions are like on Vogel from Tolmin side. Lots of snow? Winter gear/crampons needed?

There is snow, plus it will snow there tomorrow. Given all that you probably get how it is with needed gear.

Hi,
We two were at Vogel on Sunday, 31. 3. 2019. We needed crampons and ice axe, as it was pretty frozen in the morning. Then it warmed up and snow softened. Still quite a bit of snow though. Probably snowing again today.

Friday, 19.7.2019
Starting point Storeča raven, signpost to Vogel clearly marked. Gravel road quite good, though you see it doesn't get much visitors.
At path start some fallen trees, bypassed without issue, higher up three foresters clearing the path.
To upper gondola station through forest, path nicely routed and well trodden, though met no one here. Found tons of forest strawberries along path, very tasty.
At Rjava skala station big bustle. Full of tourists, animals - cows, goats, rooster, hens and wonderful views.
Continued to planina Zadnji Vogel with cheese hut and then marked path to summit. En route close encounter with viper, luckily no consequences. Wire cable section passable no problem. Right here Zois bellflowers blooming. Lots of visitors, mainly younger foreign hikers. In valley to Globoko single snow patch visible from afar.
Summit wonderful panorama. Nice views to Rodica, Komna and nearby Šija where people all the time.
Down circular under Visoki Orlov rob to bell at Orlova glava. Lunch in Merjasec hut then to start. Even swim in Bohinj lake. Super day nasmeh

Yesterday's hike Tolminske Ravne - pl. Razor - Vogel - preval Globoko - Vrh Planje - pl. Razor - Tolminske Ravne. From Vogel to preval Globoko (steep ascent) the path is somewhat eroded, but it's doable without issues. Day suitable for hiking, so accordingly the number of hikers.

Hello.
Nice hike for one day.
By train to Most na Soči then bus to Tolmin.
Start at 6.30 Tolmin, Žabče, planina Lom, hut on planina Razor, Vogel, Orlove glave and to Lake Bohinj, where I arrived at 16.30.
Bus to Bohinjska Bistrica and train home.
Tiring but divine views all around. nasmeh

To not open a new thread. Yesterday from Tolminske Ravne to planina Razor via steep path. We returned via the gentle one. Haven't hiked these paths before. Especially further to the bivouac over sedlo Globoko. Since it snowed we didn't know how much snow there is on the Bohinj side where the path to Vogel goes. We had winter gear with us and used it from bivouac to saddle. Along the way we checked out two wartime fortifications that are slowly decaying. Bivouac is small on a scenic part of the path, but very nicely arranged and clean. Full praise to PD Tolmin who set it up. We met a hiker returning from the saddle. Snow was crusty and he turned back. We missed the direction a bit, because from bivouac the path goes a bit left to the saddle. On the Bohinj side there's quite more snow and we decided to turn back like the predecessor. Yesterday was a nice day. Not too windy either. As if winter wasn't at the door. At the starting point in Tolminske Ravne we met on descent another hiker in running gear returning from the peak above Škrbina. Just four of us in these beautiful parts. In summer it's quite different here. Vogel will wait.

Here at the saddle, where the path swings to the Bohinj side, we turn around. There is soft snow and quite a bit of it on the other side.

Here we missed a bit and then returned to the right path.

At the exit point, where a drive along the narrow road to Tolmin still awaits.

To get to Vogel in the snow it's better to go over the southern slope almost into the cirque between Žabiški kuk and Vogel, left to the west saddle and up from there.

Today from planina Podkuk over Žabiški kuk to Vogel. From Vogel descent to Bohinj side, ascent to preval Globoko and return over planina Razor to start. Winter gear needed from kuk summit onwards. Beautiful warm day, light breeze on top.

Vogel 30.12. A month ago we turned back at Sedlo Globoko. Yesterday we went from Planina Lom. On the usual path. Along the way we stopped at the hut on Planina Razor, which is open these days. Continuation in snow. Higher up we used winter gear. We met three more hikers. And after many years on Vogel. The wind that usually blows here only occasionally reminded yesterday that it's winter. Beautiful views all the way. Žabiški kuk was tempting when so close. Nice end to the year on such a beautiful day.

further on, winter equipment is mandatory.

Three on the lookout. Probably quite a few visitors on Krn.

On Friday morning the sun was pouring its dazzling light over the mountain peaks, so we gazed mesmerized at this spectacle of mountain paradise. Later it clouded over, and dreams of wonderful views from the top almost vanished. But we accepted that, yet just below the summit everything superfluous disappeared.

Wonderful presentation of the mountain world, as the most beautiful, only snow-covered peaks piercing the sky, peace and quiet. No one anywhere, as Darinka usually says.
Only two hikers we met a bit above the hut on Planina Razor, then no one else on this path.

Hike that warms the heart long after the end nasmeh
