A hiker, a few days ago from Vremščica towards Vrema, found a car key. If anyone misses it please contact Planinsko društvo Sežana.

Yes, Planinsko društvo Sežana can boast of path markers who take exemplary care of hiking trails in their area and there are quite a few kilometers of them - bravo, guys. On such actions, other members join them.

All praise to the path markers of PD Sežana. The hiking trail from Senožeče to Vremščica, which was totally impassable due to the consequences of the glaze ice, is cleared and exemplarily arranged. Truly thanks for the excellent work!

I haven't been on Vremščica, but I was on Slavnik on Saturday. I think the path condition is similar. So along the path melted southern snow with bare parts. On top more snow, drier and normally passable. You just need hiking poles and low shoes work too.

I had to go somewhere to be the first to step on the untouched snow-white carpet. So I head to the karst beauty Vremščica.
From the main road I turn onto gravel, then on foot further. The path was rutted and icy, so I walked on snow. Ahead of me only some fresh tracks - hooray, lots of untouched white left .
I turn onto the marked trail. All the time on snow, which is not really abundant. Just below the summit and on descent the sun appears and hides. I walk slowly, as there are too many snow sculptures to overlook them.
On top SE wind blows, so I enjoyably rush down the white slope. Snow puffs from under my shoes and small snowballs roll ahead of me leaving tiny tracks.
On the return I meet some hikers, cyclists and those who wanted to drive up the road by car but failed.

A couple of days ago I set off to Vremščica for the first time, but at the end of Senožeče an older gentleman stopped me and strongly advised against the hike to the mountain. True, the summit was wrapped in cloud and it was a bit windy, he said the path is in bad condition, broken trees and snow and oh and everything and doesn't recommend the path... I went to the well-known Nanos instead, but Vremščica is still in my plans, just to see what it's like. Is it hard to orient on the path in snow or fog? Is the path really in such bad condition that it's not for winter hiking?? Thanks!

Hiking path to Vremščica after last year's ice storm was impassable, closed and at start in Senožeče accordingly marked - and in May last year cleared and normally passable, as it is now. If going to Vremščica first time so don't know path in fog on meadows orientation somewhat harder but not so that you couldn't manage. Hiking path from Senožeče is part of SPP and very well marked with blazes and signs. The path is much visited and consequently well trodden - even in snow.
Just happily to summit of scenic Vremščica...

After a year I visited Vremščica again. Started in Senožeče. After ice storm they cleared path nicely. Last year I passed here while they were just clearing. Noticeable that no real rain for long. But wild boars did quite a bit of damage - some meadows or pastures plowed up. Vremščica will fully bloom in about ten days. Still hairy whitlowgrass blooming, narcissi starting too. For common peony and common goldenroot blooming need to wait another ten days.
