05.05.2015 peonies and common goldenroot were still in buds. But I did find some hairy whitlowgrass, individual narcissi were already blooming.

On Sunday 27.12. on Vremščica. Conditions strange for this time of year, warm and sunny weather, light breeze on the top.

Today to Vremščica, but not from Senožeče. Turn to Vremščica before settlement - marked and then gravel to start point. Path extremely nice, dry, not steep-just right for my today's retirees. Returned on path out in Senožeče center. But bit sorry, wet and slippery in forest. In short don't recommend down until dry.

Since we're here, we should check out the chapel.

Wish bellflowers are at the chapel and also below.

Of course, no firefighter sketch without it.

Every year here we see donkeys on the pasture before the settlement.

Yes, about half a meter. Of course less where blown off, more where drifted much more. Most from Senožeče and Košane. Some fallen trees too. Anyway, gaiters and no panic...

Today from Volče to snowy Vremščica. Morning colder, bit windy, visibility slightly foggy, on return nicely warmed up and wind just occasionally over open plateaus. lp nasmeh

Soon after the start, the decision was made for additional equipment.

Without a woman, not even crampons are put on.

There is also some snow below Vremščica.

And the nice little church of St. Urban is ahead of us.

Today on Vremščica from Senožeče. Path pleasant, strong wind on top, poor visibility. But sea visible anyway nasmeh

Velkavrh can you describe exactly where to get to the starting point before Senožeče.

In Senožeče (next to the shop right by the main road) we park and continue to the village center. Markings cross the main road at the former "Adria" restaurant. In the village center we come across hiking signs, from there we follow the well-marked village path and later the macadam road and trail all the way to the top of Vremščica. The path is part of SPP so in addition to the classic marking it has the number 1 added, and it is very well marked.

The path presented by Vekavrh in the description is not entirely a hiking path. It is a road that branches off to the right from the main road about two kilometers before Senožeče, if coming from Divača (Koper). The junction is marked, but the road up to the meadows in the summit area of Vremščica is not marked. If we park by the main road, after about 45 minutes walking on macadam we reach the spot on picture 1, where we encounter SPP markings that come from Škocjan Caves. From there onwards to the summit the path is marked.

Vremščica was beautiful today. In flowers and sun. Also a bit of wind, not too much. Many years have passed since I was up here last. Today we went from Volče, along the path that gradually ascends. And quite a few hikers up there. Also foreigners. The area around the church is neat. Stone benches invite you to sit and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Today's Vremščica. From Senožeče I went. First time. I asked a local about the path? He explained to me to be careful at two junctions. Otherwise markings are visible and even where you could go wrong they added an extra arrow so you don't miss it. Now it's a beautiful path through the forest where colors blend, especially when sun shines through the branches. When I came out of the forest it was quite windy and also cold. Really nice tour although shorter than usual.

Despite the threatening clouds, there was no rain.

Only the wind was blowing quite steadily.

Today though in blue and white. More snow than I expected. At eleven o'clock Maks and I set off from Senožeče along the path I know from last time when I went first time. In the snow the path and tour is definitely much nicer.

At the start of the path in the forest, there are still bushes with berries, probably poisonous.

Then he warmed up by himself. He didn't like the coat.

I don't know why the trail marker is on such a nicely carved stone?

Yesterday up from Volče. All OK. It was super because no wind: it was really warm. Views all around, although the Alps weren't clearly visible and got lost "in the haze". Grassy slopes still covered in last year's brown and yellow grass. Too early for narcissus... Still, it was great to bask in the sun and smell the fresh pine scent in the forest. Cool!

Snežnik... It always reminds me of the Lonely Mountain from The Hobbit :)

Vremščica is a wonderful vantage point. Today you could really see all around, some wind only on the ridge, otherwise warm sun shining all the time. In the morning at 9am at the starting point in Podgora just us, -3 degrees, path mostly frozen, also higher on the ridge, where there were also more icy patches for kids' fun. Huge crowd at the summit, on return next to ours only one car left, thermometer +9 degrees. The path from Podgora is very scenic and nice, but not really mass-visited. Mandatory stop at the church of St. Urban and a bit lower in the warm sun a deserved snack. nasmeh

On Sunday Vremščica on the excellent idea of our rožica, by train to the village Gornje Ležeče. Markings have faded a bit, but no problems, in an hour and a half we were at the top. We caught the right moment, as the experts advise, after May 15, full of flowers. We saw many flowers whose names we know, and even more whose we don't know but they are beautiful... We went to the church of St. Urban, sat a bit, looked towards Brkini, village Barka.
We returned via SPP to Divača, total 22 km. In Divača also visit to Ita Rine's house, refreshment after the hot, humid day was welcome. Flowers like peonies, irises, flax, Carniolan lily, narcissus are already finishing.... but of course, not all over Vremščica. Also walking through the pine woods, in bear area, has its charm... This variant by train is also great, free for pensioners and super weekend discounts for others.
