Also from Primorska side it could be nice trip for young and old...
And hut at Soča source could be open, also Tičarjev and Poštarski dom could offer some tea... Here from this side no major dangers and avalanches...

Definitely a nice trip or a solid ascent also from Trenta, especially if you go higher above Vršič. As for opening huts, Erjavčeva is sufficient. In the Trenta inn in winter time they don't even earn for electricity, so B2's thinking is way off, even in summer huts complain they earn nothing, but in winter . As for avalanches, I wouldn't take it so lightly, I know exactly where it buries the road.

If in Trenta (hut at Soča source) in summer they don't earn well, then let the hen kick me in the ass right now  ..I won't say, in winter probably really not worth it, in summer though they nicely handle tourists..

We all see only how nice it would be to get tea here, there. It is necessary to ask if that tea covers the hut opening costs. In winter surely not.

Yesterday I went along the road to Vršič. The road from the 2nd serpentine is suitable for walking and skiing. There is a huge amount of snow, the kiosks at the pass are not visible, it is easy to get to the roof of Tičarica. Towards Mojstrovka there is one track, I think there is not much visitation. The couloirs are filled, dangerous snow mushrooms lurk at the exits.

Here I'll ask... Does anyone know what the conditions are towards Vršič and if you can already ski along the road, or maybe they are ploughing it and if any of the huts is open non-stop at this time. On the forum I saw that Tonkina koča is open but only on weekends.

After the previous snowfall (about 2 weeks ago) they plowed it, so they'll probably do it now too. Not much snow at this altitude yet.

Erjavčeva is closed, they open it on Dec 17, then it's open all the time until New Year, a bit before New Year they open Mihov dom too.

This morning the road to Vršič was normal, drivable with summer tires, at the top a bit frozen. Higher up to 20 cm snow.
