Today there was about 20 cm of snow on top, much more in drifts, but the sun diligently melted it during the day nasmeh. It starts at the saddle where the paths from Vrtaška Planina and from Gulc meet. The path from Mojstrana is steeper every time zmeden

Vrta Ridge via Vrta Peak, 18.12.213
Info for hikers who want tomorrow, before the weather worsening at the end of the week, to climb Vrta Ridge: from Vrta Peak to Vrta Ridge today with friends we made a good track in new snow. No crampons or ice axes used. Attaching some pics, more on ascent later on my public web gallery.

Jovan, always glad to see your pics and comments. On the twelfth pic that pasture is called Njivice. nasmeh

It feels like a true mountaineering ascent in the proper sense, congrats, nothing to add.nasmeh

Jovan, great! Unfortunately last weekend it wasn't trampled yet. Since it was our first time on Vrta Peak with my colleague, we mistakenly thought we were already on the Ridge i.e. Vrta Ridge. Votlo Sleme is apparently also called Drobeče Sleme, where that little bell is.

Has anyone been to Vrta Ridge recently? How much snow is still on the path?

I'm also interested, planning Sunday trip up. In December only to Vrta Peak, as it wasn't trampled further.

Does anyone know how the snow is on the Sleme or on the path to it from Mojstrana?

''pclop'', without winter gear you can nicely reach Votlo and Vrta ridge. Check the conditions on the link below.

Yesterday we did a nice tour: Mojstrana - Vrtaška planina - Njivice - Sleme - Drobeče Sleme - Vrtaški vrh - Vrtaška planina - Mojstrana.

On the path snow is only from Njivice onwards towards Sleme, but it is quite OK to walk and it poses no problem. The ridge between Sleme and Drobeče Sleme is steep.

We had a great time and enjoyed the beautiful views velik nasmeh

Pictures from the hike can be viewed on the website of Planinsko društvo Matica Murska Sobota: http://www.mojalbum.com/pdmaticams/20140609-sleme-drobece-sleme-in-vrtaski-vrh/izhodisce-v-mojstrani/21764638

On Sunday, 15. 6., I walked up there. Nice short tour, good for building fitness. Those few snow patches under the summit are just for spice. Only the weather was cooler in the morning at 7am, neighboring (higher) peaks quite in clouds.

On Sunday it was like this from Peričnik to Kukova špica, then also to the peaks around Sleme:
https://plus.google.com/photos/114400986607884783562/albums/6056423615265502065

I started at the hut by Peričnik and went up on the left side past the first waterfall and then under the second waterfall. I continued the path after a few minutes at the first junction straight up, always keeping to the right side of Peričnik, and when I reach the forest (bend) road I already see the hunting trail up. Before that I walk to the bridge, fill up some water and return about 10m back to the bend and up. I follow the trail but the first fork appears and I ignore it and continue to the next fork; here instead of towards Vrtaška planina I turn left, but the trail keeps descending moreover it is overgrown here. Soon I leave the trail and go up pure pathless terrain, steep forest, crossing a logging gully soon brings me to some trail, I follow this trail more towards Črlovec and soon reach the next fork which I already knew (this is the main trail Črlovec-Sleme). Here I go down to the KUK mark on the tree from there to Kukovo and back I won't type again....after return I exclusively follow the trail that leads higher under Sleme and after about an hour I arrive under Vrtaški vrh on the marked trail (that trail from under that cirque-under Vrtaški vrh would be hard to find too because of the bushes). I visit Vrtaški Vrh, Votlo Sleme and Sleme and return towards Vrtaška planina but higher in the spruce forest area I leave it and look for a new trail (I was a bit lucky finding it) found it and followed it. Option would be towards Vrtaška planina and from there on the hunting trail if I hadn't found it) This trail would also bring me to that path I already described would arrive at Črlovec quite high so I left it on the grassy gully, this is still high above Peričnik, lower I reach again the trail I walked a few hours ago and follow it but there I took the zigzag trail which is more direct up and soon reach that bridge and descent under/past Peričnik. Quite complicated with these shortcuts I somehow saved time. If someone tackles something similar better split into two parts, Kukovo separately and Sleme separately, I reckon I did about 2500m elevation gain.

Ljubitelj gora, you complicated it so much that someone else will get lost following your description since you yourself missed quite a bit and unnecessarily descended and ascended again. The description is so hopeless that I had to think a bit where you crawled everywhere. Since the trail disappears in several places or it's pathless terrain, I won't give a description of the path or pathless terrain with place names and trails for that reason.

It's not a description, so no mistake; it's just an experience where I walked. There are trails but too many detours; at first I planned only to Sleme then higher I turned left and went in the direction of Črlovec, Kukove špice (not the highest trail). Return from Sleme could follow marked to planina and then hunting down but again so much detour; could have left hunting earlier.

In short you have no idea where you walked. Stick to smolko's advice....zavijanje z očmi
In reality it's so simple it can't be simpler: Past Peričnik to the junction of PP path that goes to Njivice from Njivice to Vrtaško Sleme, or if you want a bit more "spicy" variant: from PP path towards Njivice saddle where the dot pathless up direction SE ridge of Kukove špice then traverse right and up gully to Vrtaško Sleme. Or variant over "Kukove prode"... Descent could be "Šez Smrajko" (of course if you know...) or to Dolina Belega potoka so not to go back same path. But there's also this option: past Peričnik to Vrtaško Sleme, from there along ridge to Kukova špica and over Gulce back to PP and to car. Better stick to the marks...zavijanje z očmi

I didn't miss anythingmežikanje, pure pathless terrain often tempts me where I discover new world be it just old stump, logging gullies, growing trees, fallen trees some rocky outcrops...
