Hello wanderers!
Just yesterday I browsed the blog and enjoyed the photos in the gallery. And look, today the trail description followed. But I have one question, how did you arrange accommodation; camper or in hut/hotel? Thanks.

Let me add that Luna has already "ridden" so much with gondolas and chairlifts that she is totally confident and not afraid anymore. Usually she curls up and watches the action below her.

To the new tandem turbo-princess I wish long and nice friendship.

@Irina
I don't know if it's right that I answer zmeden if yes, ok and if not, sorry zadrega

Stay in Lesachtal, in the area of St. Lorenzen, was in an apartment where dogs are more than welcome velik nasmeh Excellent base for all done hikes except Grossglockner area (which was anyway meant more as addition - candy to all nice) nasmeh From apartment to farthest start never more than 30km, as St. Lorenzen lies right in the middle of Lesachtal valley. Many recreational, mid-mountain and high-mountain tours easily without car, because you start right from apartment door. And can finish elsewhere in valley and return home by local bus.
I was sure Trenta and Zajzera would never get competition. After getting to know Lesachtal, they do. One side northern slopes of Karnics, other southern Lienz Dolomites. Looking forward to winter when back there with touring skis mežikanje and my princess of course mežikanje

@turbo,

what would be wrong with passing me some info? So the preemptive apology was totally unnecessary. Thanks for kindness and lots of fun on trips with princess.

Where can we head with somewhat larger dogs?
It is known that smaller breeds are nimbler, get around on steep paths easier,....
Where to take this one?velik nasmeh

Jany1980, yesterday on the path to Tosec I noticed—along the whole trail from start to goal many dog darlings of various breeds and sizes. From Samoyed to Golden Retrievers. I think your dog is capable of such feats.

Katty, thanks for the ans. mežikanje

Since some driving is not too much for me, princess and I drove to Ljubelj and walked to Zelenica. The lower half of the path we did on the forest trail, where there was shade and some breeze, so walking was a pleasure for both. Above on the "rescue" road we endured a bit and casually arrived at the hut. Behind the hut, on the ski slope, ideal meadows for playing with the ball and running back and forth. Nicely spent morning, no heat, pleasant breeze both up there and lower, really great.

Today Ox and I went to Uršlja Gora (Plešivec) from Slemen. The path is very suitable for a dog, quite steep though, but goes through the forest, so the furry one doesn't get too hot. But I have to warn that we met surely 10 dogs or more up to the top and on it, so if your dog has issues with its peers I advise against this trip. It's true it's Saturday today, so there were more two-legs than at the morning market. nasmeh

Exactly as turbo said: "For every furry one the right path is found"!

But to make it right, you really need to do something in terms of fitness, adapting to more demanding paths etc. Our 9 year old labrador with some help still manages paths like e.g. the hunting path from Škrbina to Krofička. I know it won't last long. The intensity of effort on such paths at that age is really high.
Some snapshots from that path to Krofička: http://www.mojalbum.com/mosovnik/kroficka-lovska-pot-04-08-2012

Enjoy with your four-legs wherever you go and good luck!

I still think that a dog is not for technically demanding paths. Why, I've already said.

I also think that walking dogs on Veliki vrh-Košuta and carrying cats up there doesn't belong!

Hmm... ah, I'm up again to raise blood sugar for some? big

Well here are some stray dogs from wandering around Bosnia and Herzegovina. Very calm, don't want anything and I could get quite close to them. They maybe even avoid people a bit. They probably already know why...

Bolder and more dangerous maybe only in packs. And of course don't touch them even if someone dares because who knows what diseases they have, although some were marked with something on the ear meaning they might be registered and vaccinated and at least somewhat cared for.
In the middle of Baščaršija... maybe they only put it there for tourists in season ;)1

This one was in a fenced area next to the block. First it barked at me, but when it calmed down we arranged for a photo.3

I have a dog myself and would ask what is a technically demanding path for you. I think it's very relative. I have a very small dog and always along the path I listen to comments how many batteries I changed, but everyone is excited where this creature can get to from Košuta to Vtača, Debele peči....
Because if I think about it, my mom for her even Golica or Debele peč is technically demanding.
But it's smart to check what the path is like if it's suitable for the dog because of size I mean. Otherwise the dog goes everywhere and it's not hard for him also because he's with the owner.
Ah here is a link for all those interested what my pooch is like and for all those to be horrified but know just this that I don't care about all comments, the point is we have fun :-)

The path e.g. to Golica is not technically demanding, not even for your mom. It can be demanding (fitness-wise). My opinion is that technically demanding paths, especially for a dog, are e.g. all paths to Grintovec, Skuta, Kočni starting from Jezersko.

John, I'm glad you wrote that it's your opinion about the technically demanding path smile I respect that smile I'm against someone claiming that it's a technically demanding path cool
I'd just like to tell you that pooches are capable of getting crazy high even to Grintovec without special problems. I wouldn't drag her to Skuta though because too many ledges and too much to carry. Only if I had a backpack for her. I always check paths that she can basically walk herself smile
I wish you many more adventures and don't look at us badly when we crawl up there with pooches. In mountains other things happen that are worse than pooches on summits wink

Well, just so we understand each other smile I also take the dog sometimes even two (puppies) to the mountains. They get to many places, yes, but not to rocky areas of course, otherwise everywhere smile

Well, then you have a rough idea where you can go with a dog and where not. I hope you mean Grintovec via Streha.

In my opinion paths marked as difficult and above are not suitable for dogs. Exceptionally easier difficult ones or those difficult only on a few sections, otherwise the path is 'ordinary walking'.

As for fitness demands, each owner must assess what their dog is capable of and what not. Unfortunately many don't know.

I don't like heat and I don't like crowds jezen
And I don't like warm beer even though I wouldn't know when I last downed a properly chilled one zmeden
And I pondered and pondered a bit more and... pondered it out zavijanje z očmi
On Kranjska Rebra no crowds if we start early enough, heat won't bother yet and beer, neither warm nor cold, for sure not at the top mežikanje
And we went with princess to Kranjska Rebra, what else nasmeh
Start and end at Črni Vrh because of early hour no heat up or down, no crowds either, cows below the summit quite a few, all friendly, Ferdinand the bull we didn't find, which doesn't mean he's not there eek Views far around magnificent. On the way two little springs where the furry ones can wet their tongue and refresh their paws nasmeh
At Črni Vrh coffee for me and ice cream for princess. Well actually both of us. Ice cream that is cool
