Mittlerer Sonnenkogel is 3130 meter high peak in the Ötztal Alps. The peak is located 0.7 km southwest of peak Totenkarköpfl. The nearest mountain hut is Kaunergrathütte, located 3km south. A little further is Gsallalm. 0.5 km north-northwest from the summit there is glacier Schweikertferner, 0.7 km east from the summit there is also glacier Games Kogel Ferner. East-northeast of the summit is the valley Pitztal. The peak is located on the ridge Kaunergrat.
