Description:
Westlicher Sonnenkogel is 3008 meter high peak and is part of the Ötztal Alps. The peak is located in country Austria 1.1 km west-southwest of peak Totenkarköpfl. The nearest mountain hut is Verpeilhütte, located 2km west-southwest. A little further is Gsallalm. 0.5 km east-northeast from the summit there is glacier Schweikertferner, 1.6 km north-northwest from the summit there is also glacier Gsallferner. The peak is located east-southeast of the valley Kaunertal. The peak is located above the ridge Kaunergrat.
