Oberes Gamskarköpfl is 2040 meter high peak and is part of the Kaiser Mountains. The peak is located 5 km north-northeast from the center of Scheffau am Wilden Kaiser and 6 km north-northwest from the center of Ellmau. The nearest mountain hut is Hans-Berger-Haus, located 1.7km north-northeast. bivouac Babenstuberhütte is also relatively close. 6 km west-southwest of the peak there is lake Hintersteiner See. The peak is located east-southeast of the valley Gaisbachtal.
