Rettenkarkopf is 2986 meter high peak in the Zillertal Alps. The peak is located 1.8 km southeast of peak Wildkarspitze. The nearest mountain hut is Zittauer Hütte, located 2km west. A little further is bivouac Neugersdorfer Hütte. 2 km west of the peak there is lake Unterer Gerlos See. 0.6 km north-northwest from the summit there is glacier Weißkarkees, 2 km northwest from the summit there is also glacier Wildkarkees. Northeast of the summit is the valley Krimmler Achental.
