Schwarze Schneid is 2709 meter high peak located in the High Tauern mountain range. The peak is located 9 km west-northwest from the center of Brandstatt and 13 km west-northwest of Malta. The nearest mountain hut is Villacher Hütte, located 1.3km east-northeast. And winterraum is also close by. 0.7 km south-southeast of the peak there is lake Oberer Hochalmsee. 3 km west-northwest from the summit there is glacier Großelendkees, 3 km west from the summit there is also glacier Trippkees. The peak is located southwest of the valley Maltatal.
