Westlicher Daunkogel is 3301 meter high peak and is part of the Stubai Alps. The peak is located 0.7 km east-northeast of peak Windacher Daunkogel. The nearest mountain hut is Hochstubaihütte, located 2km west-southwest. A little further is bivouac Notbiwak. 0.5 km south from the summit there is glacier Warenkarferner (Rest), 1.7 km west-southwest from the summit there is also glacier Wütenkarferner. South of the summit is the valley Windachtal.
