Hello hikers and lady hikers.

I am very glad that hribi.net exists. For me and probably many others this is the main help for hiking, mountaineering, etc. Here I mainly mean the options ''List of mountains'' and ''Search trips'' and more.

But I am quite disappointed with ''Current conditions'' in winter time.
Not with all info, but mainly with responses to inquiries about the current state for a specific mountain and also the path to it. Mostly there is none, sometimes given wrong (intentionally or not?), very short or superficial and often with answers not related to the question. And there is very little up-to-date info on conditions about specific hikes, although I am sure people go always and everywhere.

I have noticed something similar on several hiking Facebook groups. It is easy to boast where everyone goes. Obviously it is much harder to help someone else. Therefore I do not see much sense in these groups anymore and I have ''got rid'' of them.
I believe people do not always follow these forums, but I am still disappointed with poor responses.
Well, at least I am somewhat satisfied that sometimes with the help of short descriptions and quite a few photos I get some help.

may the step forward be safe nasmeh

Is this path still quite trodden, is it normally passable with crampons and gaiters?

I'm considering conquering Prestreljenik and Visoki Kanin in one day without the cable car assistance there. Plan:

-- parking: B station of Kanin cable car (970m)
-- to Prestreljenik: hribi.net/izlet/b_postaja_prestreljenik_cez_krnico/1/35/592
-- descent and soon via newer ferrata to Prestreljeniško okno
-- onwards to Kanin connecting to this route: http://www.hribi.net/izlet/d_postaja_visoki_kanin_/1/12/182
-- descent, return south, from where not far to B station: http://www.hribi.net/izlet/gozdec_visoki_kanin_cez_zadnji_dol/1/12/1744

Route descriptions everywhere recommend helmet, for ferrata Prestreljenik – Prestreljeniško okno and Gozdec – over Zadnji dol - Visoki Kanin (I'd descent there!) also self-protection kit. I believe it goes without this aid, meant more as extra safety due to many hikers, possible stones from them or animals. Despite optimistic thinking, better to have this protection? Backpack heavy anyway...

Parking B station Kanin cable car (970m)... assume free... is it free? Will I get a parking spot for the weekend and in summer if I arrive at 6am or do I need to arrive closer to 5am?

Are there any issues on this route now regarding passability or poor marking?

Probably need lots of fluid and food, smart rests, ok. Due to the length of the entire hike, if there are issues I'd end early, that is skip V.Kanin. That via return over Dom Petra Skalarja. If worse - doubt it, cable car. End maybe: Gozdec – dom P.Skalarja – Prestr. Okno – V.Kanin – Gozdec...

Thanks for help and enjoy mountains!

Bojan A... thanks for info... probably you are that mountain runner who went to El Teide in Canaries too, I just read the article...
Red bull... also mountain or trail runner, right? yeah bit of humor or sarcasm always welcome, otherwise prefer not to comment the answer too much nasmeh

since I didn't find proper info for parking at Planina Blato, I'll ask here:
-- in August, latest by what time Sat-Sun or on extended weekend 15-18.8 do you recommend arriving to almost surely get a parking spot?
-- is it different in summer on weekdays (Mon-Fri) and can I arrive a bit later?
-- in September and October I assume no problems with parking even on weekends?

thanks for help.

Almost 5 years since I was in Vrata Valley, so need some info:
-- can I go with personal car close to Aljažev dom? parking price?
-- in August, latest by what time Sat-Sun or extended weekend 15-18.8 recommend arriving to almost surely get free parking spot?
-- how much later can I arrive weekdays, Mon-Fri?
-- September and October assume no parking issues even weekends?

thanks for help.

geppo, thanks for useful info.
How much snow if any to expect? If there is, is this path from Robanov kot usually trodden?
lakkon18. 04. 2019 18:14:59
Hello hikers!

Given all the potential traffic chaos tomorrow and likely lack of time and sleep, I decided to avoid highways and roads with jams... obviously hoping it'll be much better where I'm going... so, I'm interested in ascending Strelovec via this route:
http://hribi.net/izlet/robanov_kot_strelovec_/3/490/827
But since I like returns at least a bit on different paths, how about these options (visible on the attached map!)?
a) back to the junction on the ridge and some way on the path to Koča na Klemenči jami, then on the marked path on the map to Robanov kot: it goes southeast of Ute, over Travnik and near Krofička east descent to Robanov kot
b) over Lucjan and Rožni vrh (maybe Mačkova peč too if interesting?) to Knez on marked path and same descent
c) maybe best return on the same path with slight shortcuts (at least from Strelovec direct to Knezova planina or Strelovec-Lucjan and immediately south to marked path?)

Nothing more feasible, as it'll probably be tight on time.

Thanks for help and any advice, safe steps!

Can anyone give more concrete answers to my stated questions? Thanks.
lakkon19. 03. 2019 19:54:43
Hello.

Soon maybe I'll do this trip: Stara Fužina – Hudičev most – Studor – Hudičev most – Mostnica Gorges – Koča na Vojah – Okrepčevalnica Slap Voje – Mostnica Waterfall – return to Koča by other road, east of Mostnica – maybe by road to start

Is it really free parking at that big parking NW of Stara Fužina by road to Vogar/Blato/Voje currently or till end of March? Because I read 1.50 EUR/hour (1.4. to 31.10.). I assume if you don't go further than that parking now, you don't need to pay road toll which is 10 EUR daily and apparently paid all year?

Is it better to do the gorges trip in non-winter time or drier, when probably safer overall? Is there any snow there and can you pass without issues? Nearby webcams show snow in valley just a sample. Hope it's still nice to see in current conditions or do you recommend waiting for spring for the real experience of these gorges and Voje valley with surroundings?
Is there any fee for visiting gorges?

Thanks for help.

I do it like tinky and think like 5Xum. Yesterday, e.g., the path Jasna - Vitranc - Ciprnik, which I did in the morning, I went up and down without putting them on. I went easy, smartly on the more critical parts. Same years ago Viševnik up without, down with them. I'm talking about those ordinary small Veriga Lesce. They did the job very well. Of course it's easier on descents when you know the terrain from the ascent. If your goal is speed or the terrain is such that you judge it's really not safe without them, then you obligatory put them on up. With these small ones I wouldn't set out on serious winter tours.

http://www.hribi.net/izlet/jasna_ciprnik_mimo_mojcinega_doma/1/709/1269

Might go on this hike Thursday morning, start around 7am.

Is this path entirely decently trodden, passable without major issues? Any sections where extra care needed? Here I mean the crossings visible in photos in upper description, exposed parts, steeper parts, path section with cables and access to summit itself.
Probably at least crampons (gaiters?) and poles needed? Goes without ice axe?
lakkon22. 02. 2019 21:16:40
FRANC60,
thanks for that info. Since I'm quite far from these parts and these two peaks are close, probably best to wait till spring or non-winter easier conditions for both points. And maybe then conquer something nearby higher.
lakkon22. 02. 2019 08:32:14
I could go many places, but since I go less often, I prefer some unconquered peaks, this time due to time limits not the higher ones. Borovje and Planica right now just nice viewpoints for me. I would hike Saturday between 11 and 15, forecast clear but colder than previous days.

Since coming from far to these parts, interested in some info:

Is road to Brinje start at ca 1050m OK without snow, ice?
How much or can be snow/ice on hike http://hribi.net/izlet/brinje_planica_cez_borovje/11/554/3393
on more critical sections?

Without this info better not go far from home. If not been there, maybe nearby at this altitude. Or visible from valley or nearby mountains, hills, where winter conditions are.

Thanks for help.
lakkon20. 02. 2019 21:49:49
Any more dangerous, harder to pass sections on this path, especially during ascent to Borovje? Or better to saddle between both and from there to both?

lakkon18. 02. 2019 12:34:24
I've been tempted to go to these parts after a long time so I picked a decent if not the best summit with a view. That's why I'm interested in as recent as possible info on specific approaches and descents from Poldanovec.

I'd like to start in Gorenja Trebuša and conquer the summit through Poldanovec gully.
Somewhere I read that the path through Poldanovec gully should be sufficiently well marked (it's not on the attached map from pespoti.si) so you can't miss it. Is that really true? Is it in reasonably good condition so it doesn't noticeably prolong the whole hike at the end?

Descent depending on remaining time and wishes versus this description http://hribi.net/izlet/dom_na_lazni_poldanovec_/26/545/3172 . On the attached map: Here the path between the mountains Stanov Rob and V.Češevnik is not marked. Probably just this description will be enough help? Since I'd have to return to G.Trebuša I'd probably turn right earlier (Pri Juriju) and descend to the valley along the still green-marked path. Is this path OK and not much chance of getting lost?

If someone has one they can send me a decent map too.

It's true there's been no significant snowfall for some time. But I'm still curious how it is currently and in more wintry conditions on these paths? Maybe better to go up via (near) Lazna and down through Poldanovec gully? In real winter perhaps part of the path is even discouraged?

How about bear encounters lately? I also hope the dogs there are tied up or if not that they're not very dangerous.

Thanks for the help and safe steps wherever you go!

Hello!

Is the path currently
http://hribi.net/izlet/potoki_ajdna_/11/498/843
in reasonably good condition ((un)marked, fallen trees, etc)?

If I want to go from this starting point (Potoki), to the summit via the climbing path, then probably I shouldn't turn right higher up directly to Ajdna? I assume I continue to the junction Na Sušeh (i.e. Valvasor hut?) and only from there or from some earlier junction to this path: http://hribi.net/izlet/na_suseh_ajdna_plezalna_pot/11/498/842?

Return will be via the originally mentioned easy direct path Ajdna-Potoki.

Thanks for help.
