Yesterday we were on Lučki dedec from Podvežak. Beautiful path, very little snow remains, winter gear not needed.

Yesterday we were on Veliki vrh, unplanned. Our first goal was Lučki dedec. When returning to Podvežak, we decided for this peak too. We didn't know the path, so of course we missed the left turn-off towards Veliki vrh summit and circled the whole hill to the saddle with Dleskovec and from there ascended to the summit along the marked path. Below the summit there's a very steep snowfield left, better to bypass it without winter gear (feasible). Of course we looked for a shorter way down, but ended up at the summit part of Dleskovec, didn't find the path to Podvežak, so returned the way we came up. Nice in these parts, just a bit long because we didn't know the paths. Next time better.

Yesterday afternoon my friend and I were on Kepa from Erjavčev Rovt. Very nice path, completely dry, phenomenal views, lots of flowers - aurikels like you rarely see. Super hike, yesterday in complete peace - didn't meet a soul. In places due to the crumbling terrain a more cautious step is needed.

If there were two of you, then yes. We were three. Happy steps forward.

I agree with you, Stane7; we probably met. lp

Today three of us went along the western path to Košutica. Conditions really wintery, both in temperature and snow amount. No footprints anywhere, locally we had some trouble finding the path. Serious snow starts from the junction before the planina towards Košutica. Locally more than half a meter of snow, locally rocks just dusted and frozen, requiring great caution. Altogether we encountered about three minor issues that required thinking and caution, mainly on steep terrain and ridge, mostly due to new snow covering all traces of the summer path. Despite severe frost, it was sinking everywhere to the ground, snow extremely loose. No problems with descent, we went back on our tracks, first 400m descent despite very deep snow sections with crampons. Now the path is fully trodden on this side and I think followers shouldn't have issues. From the top to the other side towards Hajnževo sedlo we somehow didn't dare descend, because we don't know the path at all and the view from the top to the other side with snow-covered slopes wasn't inviting. Maybe different in ascent direction. Serious winter ascent in April. Nice.

Yesterday on Palec and Zelenjak from Ljubelj. Path almost entirely bare, except two snow patches where at least ice axe is necessary, for more safety also crampons, because the outlet is very steep - snow patch on the way to Palec. Nice. Quiet. No crowds.

Igor, which trail did you take to Križ? Difficulty? Conditions? Thanks
vespa17. 03. 2012 20:21:16
Nice. Did you go over Kokrsko sedlo? How much time did you spend on the ascent?

Today on Grintovec. Conditions for such a warm day are fine. Snow starts half an hour below Kokrsko sedlo (from Kamnik side), where there's quite a bit and it's very good to be early so no heavy slogging with sinking. Further from the saddle some dry sections here and there, higher snow that's crusty, but in the morning it holds fine. Today we went to the top without crampons, some put them on for the first 400m descent. But it was blowing very very hard, I had no rest and no sandwich at the top. But lower we made up for it. Yeah, even in the mountains it already smells like spring.

Yesterday my friend and I were here for the first time in these parts and it was beautiful, solitary (maybe also because it was Friday). Path from Šajda saddle initially dry, then in places through forest very icy, last part of path poetry - whiteness with 5cm fresh powder, below hard, very good for walking. At the top an unparalleled view awaits you. From this peak you see practically all hills Slovenia has - complete Karavanke, complete Kamnik Alps and also Julians. Worth maybe driving a bit longer, from LJ 1 hour 45 min, and see our hills from this perspective too. Nice.

Today three of us headed to Bogatin. We were early and as predicted, it was crucial to reach the summit today in warm sunny weather. From Komna to Vratca really sinking in deep. At saddle gear change, mandatory crampons on feet and ice axe in hand. Continued straight up directly to Bogatin summit, partly on hard snow, partly rock. From afar last ascent looked really steep, but wasn't. As soon as no more sinking, went on without problems. Back descended to saddle toward Mahavšček and circled back to Vratca. From there crazy sinking to Komna. From Komna to valley no issues, half the path already completely dry. Tour was quite strenuous and long. Up almost full four hours - all well fit, back maybe half hour less.

Reporting to everyone that there is huge snow all the way from the village to the Golica top. Yesterday two apparently turned back below the hut. We today trod to the hut and onto the ridge, and stopped at the point where the ridge turns a bit right, about 100 vertical meters short of the top. Drifts and cornices on the right and steepness on the left did their thing - it became too dangerous for our taste. The increasingly warm weather contributed to that decision, so we wanted to descend back to the hut as soon as possible. I think the decision was right, as our track just below the hut was already covered by a small, about 3m wide avalanche. We didn't conquer the summit, but we did trample the snow, and with such nice nature and weather the heart danced too. There is really a lot of snow on Golica (for this winter), apparently the most in the Karavanke.

Today three of us headed to Great Draški Peak. Weather ideal (read finally no wind this winter), snow conditions sadly not so great. Almost the whole way 30cm powder, locally more, drains strength a lot, especially since only one ahead to Studorski pass. From there virgin white. Decided for ridge ascent. First part quite uncomfortable and thanks fearless strong male expedition member I didn't quit. Once past first steep part it went. Went to summit no problems, no ice, mostly snow, bit bare rock. Return on usual winter path into virgin white - down easier than up. Now tracked both ways. Unforgettable day.

Yesterday I was with two friends for the first time in winter on Triglav. Conditions were ideal and I wouldn't want them to be worse. Triglav in winter is very demanding, concentration must be at its peak all the time, not to mention gear and psychophysical fitness. Otherwise, the ascent to Kredarica is an extremely nice winter ascent, snow doesn't sink in, under Kalvarija it's wise to put on crampons, down we walked with crampons all the way to the car anyway. I hope I get some photos to post. Unforgettable day, but next weekend some less adrenaline tour. Have a nice time and safe steps if you go to our daddy.
