On Sunday we visited the mountains above Maria Alm. We chose a hill with a special landmark, Mary with Jesus in her arms, as our goal. The usual path is quite visited, but on the partially marked ridge past Napfetzer we didn't meet anyone for 3.5 hours.
We left the car at parking lot 2 in Stabler Au. Parking is free. Quickly above the parking lot we turned onto a rather hidden path towards Tennhütte. Above it straight up through high ferns to Napfetzer. After 40 minutes of walking we came across the first red dot. The markings then appeared in various forms, red, blue dots and yellow ribbons. The path through sparse forest and then through pines is quite visible, higher up in rocks, scree and grass less so. About halfway there is a bivouac at a scenic, grassy location, with a view towards Maria Alm. Above it the path avoids the ridge and Brunnkopf summit to the right and higher up returns back to the ridge. In the upper part it is more rocky, but nothing special. Difficulty should be I-II.
After 3.5 hours we reach the ridge and the first summit Schönegg (2389m). From it there is a nice view towards Breithorn and Riemannhaus on the left and right towards Schönfeldspitze, where we will continue along the ridge.
In between we also step on the summit Wurmkopf (2451m), from there down into the notch and we are soon on the marked path that leads from Riemannhaus. The marked path is also not fully secured, only two harder passages and one rope was hanging on one jump. The path turns along ledges around the hill and on the eastern, very steep side to the summit. Surprisingly we were alone on the summit for at least 20 minutes.
We descended below the ridge via Riemannhaus into the valley. There the path is very developed, also with concrete steps and railings and very visited. After less than 9 hours and 1700hm we finish a nice tour. Only 4 hours of relaxed driving home awaits us with a stop in Schladming.

After the ascent to H. Dachstein we also did the ascent to this peak. The path runs immediately from the upper station of Südwandbahn along a gentle ridge. It is suitable for less experienced mountaineers. It is worth visiting this peak mainly because of the view of the Hallstätter glacier and the peaks above it.

It seems to me there's a bit of envy towards this cute family that cheerfully hikes in the mountains.
Until about age 60 I mostly didn't even hike in summer with high boots in our high mountains. In old age I switched to mid-high, mainly to avoid complications with insurance companies.

Then that's the upper path. Since when is there a ladder there?
Isn't “ta gruševa” the one that goes from Perk to Grintovc or Jerebičje?

If you went along the ridge, which is clearly visible in picture 29, you would need at most half an hour to Rogljica.

Not only there. There are also two more places on the way there from the highway exit!

Yes, the trail is marked with old red dots and arrows. On the Peternpfad, at key points, there are a total of 5 or 6 hooks.
On the Dachlgrat, however, in the upper part, above the Dachl, one needs to be careful in the system of ledges to leave them at the right time. Still nothing complicated.

If you go by the variant past the windows on the left, to the top it's no more than II. Also back it's nicely climbable and anchors are unnecessary.

Thanks. The chain of Gesäuse peaks really has hidden gems, like K. Buchstein, A. Reichenstein, G. Ödstein and of course one of the longest ridges in the Eastern Alps (G. Ödstein- Hochtor- Planspitze), which I completed one part of on this tour.

After two years again on the king of Gesäuse, Hochtor. This time from the north side, following the “path” of the wild hunter Peter. He supposedly escaped across here when they unsuccessfully hunted him. The first official ascent with a local guide was done in 1877.
We started at parking P6 Haindlkar (7 euros) at 610m. After 1.15h of walking we were already sipping morning coffee on the terrace of Haindlkarhütte, from where there is a nice view of the wall where you can't even imagine going across without a rope.
We continued along a nice path under the wall, used mainly by alpinists climbing in this beautiful wall from Planspitze to Großer Ödstein.
At around 1600m we put away the poles and grabbed the rocks. Incredible passages reminiscent of the path from Dunja to Montaž, but easier, mostly left of the gully and the yellow wall above it at the beginning, led us to an easier part with scree and grass. In the upper part the world stands upright again and the Peternpfad route we climbed offers an attractive exit to Peternscharte (2016m). A little below the saddle after 4 hours the sun barely shines on us, although it is already 11 o'clock. Given the heat these days, this tour was the right thing.
At the saddle the ridge further towards Hochtor (Dachlgrat) tempts me, while Vinko sticks to the original plan to visit both summits of Peternschartenkopf (SW 2082m and NE 2047m) and Planspitze (2114m). We agree to meet at the junction below Hesshütte, which we then also realize with a 15-minute difference.
I continue alone along the ridge over the pointed Roßkuppe (2153m), the smooth slabs behind it and over Dachl (2204m) to the summit of Hochtor (2369m). From there along Josefinensteig towards Hesshütte, where I don't stop at all and just turn left down the Wasserfallweg to the junction where Vinko is already waiting for me. This path to Kummerbrücke is very picturesque and steep. As I already wrote elsewhere, Komarča squared! In the steepest upper part it is equipped with ladders, below the path crosses under the waterfall which had only a trickle of water left. Water was much needed. After 9 hours we arrive in the valley, where we continue along the Enns river first on a bike path to the camp in Gstatterboden and then on the road to the parking lot (4.6km).
After less than 10 hours and more than 1900m elevation we finish a great tour and both are grateful that despite our combined 137 years we can still do it.

Tone is joking with you a bit, he is light as a feather and fast as lightning, and everything seems short to him.

Why would it be easier in the opposite direction? Then you'd have one of the longest scree fields in KSA to ascend!

You probably didn't have them under Mali Triglav either. Why are they installing them there now?

I think this access is nicer, although the path in the upper part is more meager.
