After the ascent to H. Dachstein we also did the ascent to this peak. The path runs immediately from the upper station of Südwandbahn along a gentle ridge. It is suitable for less experienced mountaineers. It is worth visiting this peak mainly because of the view of the Hallstätter glacier and the peaks above it.

This pointed peak first caught my eye from the peaks above Planeralm. Later we often recognized it from various peaks.
On Monday we drove along the long dusty road from Winklern bei Oberwölza to Hölzler Hütte (half of it is asphalted), where there is free parking below the hut.
From there past the waterfall or rapids straight up through sparse forest. The forest ends quickly and among other things blueberries appear. So the tour is also suitable for autumn. For winter anyway. Snow appeared at about 2000 m, otherwise more snow fields. Now it is melting a lot and consequently water is flowing from everywhere. Below us to the left leads a very frequented path along Oberes Almbachl, which is very watery and loud. The path there leads past Funklsee to Talkenschrein (2319 m). Or left to Seifriedsenke (2150 m).
We turned at the junction onto path 926A and on snow fields reached the ridge. There the path leads further right of the ridge. But a better off-path variant is right along the ridge with easier climbing.
Along the ridge we reached straight to the cross on the summit. It is quite a scenic peak in this area. Around the peak there are several smaller lakes. The highest, Schobersee, is still frozen.
On the very top 9 visitors took turns, at the hut there were many. The hut is namely the starting point for several peaks and attractive because of the rapids above it. Also the offer in the hut is enviable.

CarpeDiem247, on that ridge you don't climb over those most jagged peaks, but left below them. There's nothing particularly difficult, except one place that smells like grade 4 below the Summit of the Rokav ridge. But there are quite a few descents on the rope. And a long tour with access and descent!
Tone, age also damages the rope, not just crampons nasmeh

Because of different lists it's really hard to say how many there are. But for two I know they have conquered over 400!smile

These are two different peaks. From Hoher Dachstein we returned to the upper gondola station and from there headed to the other peak in the other direction. Since I didn't find it anywhere, I put it under a new topic (Hoher Gjaidstein) to make it clearer.

Nice, Tone.
Regarding uncertainty, it only increases due to the aging of the rope.nasmeh

Yesterday's retreat to the cold, quickly, by gondola.smile
The price of the gondola is not the most suitable for pensioners (61 euros return), but it is easier in the upper floor.
Nice weather attracted a crowd of visitors to the peaks above the Hallstätter glacier and also many tourists. In the afternoon the gondola ran every 7 minutes. Without online reservation there is no entry. You need to reserve the time of ascent and the time of descent!
There were quite a few of them on the secured path to the summit of Hoher Dachstein, but it went without jams. We approached up via the ridge, back via the glacier. And then for coffee at the Seethaler hut, which is new. On the last visit it was still the old one.

Where I pick them, they started growing a week ago. Nothing before.
Similar ones I picked last year after September 15, which was really unusual for summer porcini. Last year autumn porcini started growing higher up earlier.

Where are you mushroom pickers? There are mushrooms this year. nasmeh

Uh, they racked up some nice kilometers. Just along Logarska there are approx 6-7.
It's closer from under Logarski kot to the forest road on the left and up along it. Then across the ridge or saddle under Visoki vrh and down to the hunting hut.

It's not about mutual name-calling.
Still, we can't label someone as rabble here. I myself often am just a tourist in my old age, and I don't think that's right. We've also often discussed the thing about serious or non-serious, real or fake mountaineers. Are we going to start again?
Hammond, isn't Tamar a better starting point for Travnik? And descent along the ridge and via Hanzova back down. There's enough time if you get up at dawn!nasmeh

“ But here I'm not talking about serious hikers, but the tourist rabble who think they can do whatever they want.”
You could explain the difference between the ones and the others.
In my opinion some are by no means rabble, the others are also not serious hikers if they have to start the tour from Vršič already at 2.20!

On the more demanding sections quite good.

It used to be the rule: first climbing and alpinism, and in old age such scree as the path to Oltar. Now, in the age of the internet and phones, everything is turned upside down. That's why the dilemma whether to go or not. Anyway, the previous commenter gave you good advice. First check the approaches and descents there; maybe really go to Dovški križ first, from where there's a nice view of Oltar. And if tackling demanding off-trail routes, first train also in technical matters.

Uh, even the post is too long for me, let alone the tour.nasmeh

Sigmundfreund, yes, that's it.
Green transition in all its glory.

Those paths above all end before the collapsed, steep gully, through which it falls down onto the path towards Škaf.
The passage towards Škaf is lower, as soon as you reach the forest, the passage is to the right.
