Yesterday a bit into the snow and sun. We started at the Seyfried parking lot in Triebental (free).
First across meadows and partly on the snowy road and along Bärenbach to Triebenalm, where the summit ridge comes into close view. In the whiteness left towards Triebener Törl and then right along the ridge to the summit. The ridge was already bare in some places, but still nicely snow-covered. The view opens up already from below the saddle onwards. It offers a beautiful view of Haller Mauern, Gesäuse, Ture, especially the nearby peaks. The Styrian Matterhorn also reveals itself nicely.
Conditions were excellent. Hard upwards, soft downwards. Coffee in Trieben also good.

In search of sun and spring, on Tuesday we drove over Buchauer Sattel to the hamlet of Pölzau, where we parked on a small parking lot at the end of the houses before the forest (free). There is another small parking lot higher in the forest, but the forest road was partially icy and forest works are being carried out at this time. The path runs above Schleirelbach stream and after approx. 1.5h reaches the plain under Kreuzmauer, right under some
scenic spacious saddle or alpine pasture (Admonter Höhe).
A view opens to the Haller Mauern range with the prominent Hexenturm and back towards Kleiner Buchstein.
The path after the alpine hut turns uphill through sparse forest to the grassy ridge and along it to the summit. There is little snow on this side, but plenty of mud. When we come out of the forest, a view opens that doesn't leave us indifferent. From Tamischbachturm in the east all the way to Großer Priel in the west. Panorama similar to that on Dovška Baba. Huge number of peaks, mostly already known and hiked.
We returned the same way.
The summit is, despite low elevation, worth a visit.

Now you need an ice axe and probably also crampons.

On Friday, snow and sun again. The mountain also provided a wonderful view.
We climbed it from Pötschenpass Straße, because that side was drier and the path along Roten Graben climbs nicely in switchbacks to Sarsteinalm. It starts approx. 260m lower than the saddle at a large, free parking lot. Just before the last big right turn above Bad Goisern.
The path was dry almost to the alpine pasture, then firm snow and beautiful vistas. From Hochkönig, Schafberg, Traunstein, G. Priel, Grimming, Hoher Dachstein, to the pointed G. Bischofsmütze. The Dachstein range shows itself most in all its whiteness. And of course the lakes in the valley, Altausee, Grundlsee and Hallstatt See.
A summit that, despite its low elevation, enchants with views. Otherwise, it's about 1200 hm on this path.

Incredible, how the face is shaped on picture 10.

Today I visited my home mountain. And once again realized that it's safer here in the mountains, even though they're demanding, than on Slovenian roads. Why that's the case and why these same reckless drivers drive calmly right across the border is a topic that doesn't belong here, but I had to mention it anyway. It didn't spoil my day, though, not at all on my revisit to the beauty of Matkova Kopa.
It's still partially clad in white and still evokes strong feelings despite multiple visits. Lately I've been neglecting it, but today it was just mine. Actually, also from the jackdaw that tried to beg me for chocolate and from the chamois that watched me suspiciously from above. The other one sadly met a tragic end on the forest road that I use to connect to the middle path, which I took to ascend. At the summit I lingered quite a while and only reluctantly started descending. I crossed towards Jevševec and under the walls turned back to the middle path. For me, that's the best descent option.
The Easter eggs, which I assume Antonija left, remained untouched. Maybe someone else will need something sweet for more energy.smile

Bojan B., unfortunately I'm not smart enough to post a new riddle. Let others continue.

Peak Finder would solve this in a moment!

It looks like the problem is really in the slow opening of puzzles. But for a puzzle we need time to think anyway. nasmeh

Nice, Tone.

Wasn't he also at Kamniško sedlo for some time?

Tone, nice elevation you've collected. Good daily average.

In Austria at many places there are parkings, starts or near them a hut. When it closes, usually the road to it closes too. Except ski areas.
Parkings are well marked, many free or at a reasonable price. Prices higher in busy, tourist starting points.
Just FYI, this year with Vinko we paid 84 euros for parkings and roads to starts in Austria and Italy. For ca 35 two-thousanders. In most cases we drove quite high. Average height of all starts 1237m. Average parking 4.4 euros.

In search of sun yesterday I visited two of these peaks again.
Starting point in winter is a few hundred meters lower, as the road to Klinke hut isn't open. From Kaiserau parking (6 euros) I went straight up to Kreuzkogel. At ca 1400m sun rays were already caressing me. On this sunny side it was practically dry. From Kreuzkogel summit really nice view all around, especially now. Sign is somewhat below summit at viewpoint, from where Admont is nicely seen. If not for the sea of fog below, it would really be visible.nasmeh But just because of that the surrounding view was even nicer.
From summit continued on iced deep footprints along ridge to Rifflspitz. Below summit wire ropes helped me, not under snow. Also there I lingered quite a while. Then first on snow patches later dry to Klinker Hütte and on snowy road back to Kaiserau.
Really nice December day. Valley grayness I chased with good coffee at stop opposite cathedral in Admont.
