Does anyone know the condition of the path through Sovatna, is winter gear still mandatory?

@Mirahj, I think winter gear is mandatory. Yesterday I was at Planika below Triglav and there's still lots of snow and in early morning hours the snow is hard. Attaching a photo of the northern slopes above Velska valley, showing high altitude conditions.

Through Sovatna at least two steep snow patches. Winter gear recommended, many turned back on Sunday.

No, still snow in Sovatna. Through Luknja they say it's ok.

mado, photos 30.6.2018. Up through Luknja, down through Sovatna. Three snow patches on Sovatna path, two crossable carefully without crampons and ice axe; third avoidable on right (upper) side by climbing rock ca.10m then descend past open snow gates - narrow passage to snow-free path. Had ice axe just in case but stayed in backpack. Last pic shows rock climbing condition. Second-last the passage.

I sent an inquiry to the staff of Pogačnikov dom and they replied quickly:
Hi,

you can nicely bypass the snowfield over Sovatna and reach the top without winter gear.
For Razor winter gear is still recommended, snowfield is also still on Stenar.
Planja, Križ and Bovški Gamsovec are snow-free.

Day 1 (5.8.): Vrata - Križ - Razor - Prisojnik - Vršič
Day 2: Vršič - Jalovec - Trenta - Luknja ...

After a long 2-day tour at Luknja I wondered whether to go straight to the car or detour to Gamsovec. The decision for the longer variant was more than rewarded with a visit from 3 chamois.

Today from Vrata Valley over Luknja to Bovški Gamsovec. Snow starts at 1400 meters and to the top of Luknja there's no dry section. From Luknja onwards it's dry for 100 meters of elevation gain, then still quite some snow. Crampons stayed in the backpack due to soft snow. In the last part right below the summit the marked path is under snow and quite dangerous to cross, so I chose my own path to the top, quite direct towards the summit.
