Brana

Given the forecast of clear weather, with temperatures at Brana height around five degrees, tomorrow could be a quite suitable day for a summit visit. Maybe plan to be at the top after noon. It might blow a bit.

On Saturday we plan to go to Brana. Is there now greater danger due to falling rocks after the fallen snow but is the path no issue? Thanks nasmeh

We were at Brana on Saturday.

These were the views - 360 panorama:

Under the summit there is still a bit of trodden snow so I recommend careful walking.

Sunday, 17.11.2013.
It was completely dark in the valley, so the only right choice for a bit of sun was to head to 2000m. The sun showed up at the exit from the bushes, a few hundred meters below Kamniško sedlo.
First, praise to the "volunteers" who keep the hut at Kamniško sedlo open on weekends, in previous years it closed on 15.10. regardless of conditions. Kamniško sedlo is always an ideal combo of hills with mountain vibe, so this is more than welcome.
Path to the saddle is almost fully dry, just some small snow patches right below the top.
Things change towards Brana right away, the approach is fully winter despite little snow. Short sleeves out immediately, cold wind blows on the shady side. Slope traverse needs focused steps, of course with crampons and ice axe, and the view of the slide to Logarska makes pulse rise anyway.
After traverse, ascent half on rocks half on snow, so I was most worried about wrecking crampons. But all went fine.
Summit almost fully dry and offered great views of fog sea in the valley that day.
Good luck all.

You don't destroy crampons just like that (talking 12-point crampons not kiddie ones from kinder egg) velik nasmeh
Quality crampons are almost indestructible.

Stay safe up there! Juš

On Sunday (1.12.) I went to Brana via north gully (in marked path area). To Kamniško sedlo snow was fairly hard (at least in the morning, by noon it starts to sink), beyond Kamniško sedlo I waded through it up to my balls.

North slope locally crusty, so caution is advised though snow well bonded to base. Higher to summit snow hard and compact (squeaky), ice formed nicely too, rocks iced over nicely so reach summit without major issues, of course with proper alpinist gear and knowledge.

Snow alarm says avalanche risk is negligible. But today during ascent to Grintovec (still in valley) from Brana direction heard quite loud rumble - avalanche of respectable size.
Caution on the mountain (and others) won't hurt.

Yesterday on Brana from the Kamnik side. What we saw towards Logarska is dry. To Brana we went by descending the path to Tursko and then along the far right edge to the top. We crossed snow in the upper part where the chain is on the path, which is still cca 4-5m under snow. We used ice axe of course to cross. Above on the path there is still avalanche debris, so we turned right earlier and reached the Brana summit on dry. Winter gear still needed.
P.S. on the classic path to Brana when crossing the north slope, yesterday a slip happened with a happy ending, because rotten snow and crampons hold poorly... careful

Is the path from Logarska to Kamnik saddle dry? Because Okreselj keeper claims there's still lots of snow on that path.

Dejan, snow surely under the wall where climbing part of path starts, usually nasty slab still there.
Best regards
