maybe someone knows if the road from Kamniška Bistrica to the starting point "Konec" is normally drivable, in the description on Hribi it says you supposedly can't drive (I know that description is quite old)
thanks nasmeh

The road is drivable, but already in the first kilometer it's quite wavy and to Konec it repeats at least 2 more timesmežikanje
Already in the first kilometer quite a lot has been built....1

Snow is just a trace, but in the upper part of the trail before the saddle (still in the forest) some sections are quite icy so microspikes are very handy. Especially downhill.
Also from the saddle to the top there's very little snow (a couple of cm, and even that's windblown in places) so the "real" crampons stayed in the backpack as microspikes were perfectly sufficient.
No pics unfortunately, phone stayed warm.

Today's conditions unchanged from "exwannabe's" description. Adding a couple pics. Came from Suhadolnik direction. Don't go further by car because the road above the hut is badly damaged, a bit higher it's gone for a while. Over Taška it's icy in places from the start and continues to the saddle. Microspikes the right answer. No wind. Some from the next valley and some from "ours". Quick nice day mežikanje

Me too today up from Suhadolnik. The previous one described early morning conditions, I'll add for those not so early. Road to Suhadolnik ok, further on pretty damaged. Taška quite unpleasant, up without spikes, back around 14h conditions same as morning - microspikes good solution. Same for the entire ascent to the top, some parts in between completely dry. Lots of chamois grazing. Snow just a trace. Back best without spikes and crampons - they make noise, trail nicely trodden and softened fresh snow. Real mountain solarium, stayed over an hour at top - warm, no wind, views phenomenal, two even brewed coffee at the top. For the more daring, the trail from Skuta over Podi and Mlinarsko sedlo is also already trodden and marked.

Today from Kamniška Bistrica to Grintovec: from the bench onwards the path is icy, ice and rocks up to the start of the scree, the path further presented no problems, snow held well, crampons stayed in the backpack... above the saddle "na ravninah" it's still frozen here and there, elsewhere to the summit without crampons and gaiters.

Hi there! I was thinking of going to Grintovec from Kamniska Bistrica this Saturday. I've already been there (I did the whole Grintovec-Skuta ridge last autumn), so I kind of know the way up. Does anybody know how the conditions are up there? Is there deep snow that will slow me down? Or is it quite ok? (i do have crampons and ice axes of course). Thank you!!

Hi Koldo. In past days there was very little snow (but very strong wind), no problem with the way up from Kamniška Bistrica. Of course ice crampons and axe are a must. But there can be some snowfalls from Wednesday till Friday, so bear that in mind. If I get any new info, I will post here.

Koldo! You asked about gear... Of course winter gear, crampons, ice axe and helmet are mandatory. Helmet because you climb directly under the wall to Kokrško sedlo and every now and then a pebble falls. The path from Kamniška Bistrica is slippery, snow cover to Kokrško sedlo is negligible, the path is slippery. From the hut onwards snowdrifts are deep to the balls, but can be bypassed on rocks/rocks. Otherwise snow 5-10 cm, but windblown to the ground in places. Today sunny, very cold and windy. Start 6.30, return 13.30. You can drive to the start like the lady from the neighboring country did today, but she messed up the road badly... 150 m before the start there's lots of space for cars to which you can get without problem. Good luck.

Today we tried to summit Grintovec from Kamniška Bistrica. There was deep fresh snow almost all the way up to Cojzova Koča. There was no open track after "the forest" so we had to fight every single meter. The good news is that right now there should be an open track all the way up to Cojzova. Up to this point snow conditions were kind of OK and it felt rather safe (even though snow was so soft that crampons felt useless). Anyways, the upper part of Grintovec looked really risky since some avalanche remnants could be seen from Cojzova. We of course decided there was no point in trying to summit and went back to the valley. It was not windy at all up to Cojzova but the summit looked quite windy.

Enjoy and be safe!

This afternoon to Grintovec. Snow starts already in Konc. Crampons mandatory from 1700 m onwards, i.e. just before the saddle. Had them on to the summit, though not always needed but too "lazy" to remove them velik nasmeh. Conditions from saddle to top varied.... return in the dark and crampons stayed on until the car nasmeh. More in the pictures.
