On Sunday, 3 May 2020 we went from Kamniška Bistrica via Konec to Grintovec. After a two-month break due to COVID-19 I felt that some fitness had evaporated, as the ascent was harder than usual. Weather conditions were good, little new snow. At the start of the Roof we put on crampons and headed to the summit. Snow base was very hard, gusty wind bothered us at times. Excellent tour! nasmeh Adding some pics! nasmeh

Hello,
I'm interested if anyone went in recent days from Konec - Grintovec (over Roof) and how's the path condition, snowy, crampons needed?
thanks lp

I was up on 9.5.2020, friends next day after me. I didn't need winter gear, snow on Roof was rotten and soft. Looking at colleagues' photos next day, at least 1/2 meter less snow. My opinion no more winter gear needed for Grintovec, nights are warm already.

The path is dry. On Streha there's a larger snowfield - if you turn right at its bottom, you'll need to cross it later. In general, stick to the left, it'll be dry.

How about avalanche debris after Kokrško sedlo?
Is there still any snow?

3 days ago he said the path is dry. We won't discover America; if you don't believe, go see for yourself on the spot.

What avalanche debris under the saddle do you mean; we climbed up from Žagana peč. Overnight little snow fell, just enough to whiten from ca 2000 m up. Path to saddle and beyond normally passable, just wind was blowing in the saddle area. The higher we climbed the less it blew, and sun warmed the air now and then; where there are snow remnants, just watch your stepsmežikanje.

Miran, do you maybe have some photo towards Kalški greben? I'm interested in the passage between K. gora and K. Greben regarding snow cover.nasmeh
Thanks

Tone, the path should be dry or without any special features, as can be pretty much seen from photos on FB from 24.5. Probably you're interested in the part with pegs and protections.

Great photos, Miran, thanks. You nicely captured my tomorrow's hill and the back will be grateful.nasmeh
Thanks to you too, Matej. I was worried because of snow, it's just north side and relatively high. Pegs and cables don't worry me, I always have a short rope in backpack if iron is deformed.

I was up there 10.5.20. Path almost dry to summit. Little zig-zag needed. If firm/hard snow, recommend mini crampons for last turn to top. And on summit itself still some, so careful not to slip again...

Don't write conditions a month after you were up therezavijanje z očmieek. Beštija wrote what it is and I think it still holds.
That little snow that fell Sat to Sun night (if any left) ain't for slide longer than 1m!

On the very summit, surely still some snow, enough to slide... For below I don't say.

The summit around the stamp and box is completely dry! Towards south slopes there is of course still snow, on the approach from Cojzova koča up no snow. But really very long narrow snowfield starts soon above turnoff to Kočne (Ovnov čer). If you blindly follow summer path right, you must cross it (ca. 10m wide). Most went a bit left below and straight up where big mark is clearly visible (easy terrain everywhere). Condition well visible on Lijaneja's post from Kalška gora (pic 8) a couple days ago.

This is the picture that Miran mentions. (You can check my report from Kalški greben on 27.5.)
For the approach from the south, no tools are needed anymore.
