Grintovec

Unfortunately the forecasted warming will cause just the opposite, that we'll need all winter gear in the mountains, as the melted snow will freeze at night, since it's December after all.

Today Dejan and I went to Grintovec to check the conditions a bit. Before the saddle there's quite a lot of windblown snow on the path, in some parts even up to 50-60cm. The path to the saddle is already well trodden, further on in some parts due to windblown snow the path is bare. Approx. 200m below the summit the snow is frozen, so we needed crampons for the descent. On the way we met seven hikers. Weather sunny, cloudy, windy and sunny again, ...nasmeh a bit of everything

Today everything except a bit below the summit was more or less nicely passable. Snow just a sample. As said up top it's frozen, but almost bare and goes without trouble.

Hi! Does anyone who's been to the top of Grintovec this week have a pic of the whole Kočna? Most interested in the left side, area of the marked path to Kokrsko Kočna. Thanks!

What's the condition between the two bivouacs and onwards towards Kokrško sedlo, is the path mostly bare?

Today on Grintovec from K.Bist.. Path towards Kokrško sedlo higher in forest quite frozen, likewise in steep slope under saddle. Goes without crampons of course, but for more relaxed step recommend at least small crampons. Some frozen snow on roof too, but can be bypassed.

Yesterday on Grintovec. Spring conditions. To Kokrško sedlo annoying frozen snow, partly icy on path, but up no problem, down highly recommend small crampons. Beyond hut snow here and there, but crampons not needed. Path mostly bare. As subaru wrote some snow on top of roof, but bypassable, we two went along edge with caution, no issues. Completely different on north side towards Jezersko, icy frozen - even rocks. Otherwise nice day. biggrin

Overrated - overrated. If Triglav was meant as king, it's nicely visible on the last pic.
