andrej78 I was on Grintovec today via the roof and let me tell you, walking is not pleasant at all, because of inversion and snow sinks properly, if it's like this for a few more days, there won't be any snow by the end of the week..

Today on Grintovec: up to Kokrško sedlo rain and fog, a bit higher sun tried to break through clouds, on top dense fog again. Real winter conditions last 100 vertical meters below summit - today crampons not needed. If it cools and snow freezes, they'll be essential!

After reading on FB, snow starts in the last 300 m, about 30 cm icy and today extremely windy, so he turned back, it seemed too demanding in these conditions to him.... but has experience with winter tours and winter gear

Tomorrow should be windy but stable up to 40km/h. A bit less than today. Thursday and Friday very windy, weekend should be favorable. Ice axe etc. and experience of such tours needed Good luck

Well I use crampons and ice axe for hard snow and ice ...in deep snow you can't do much with them except hiking ice axe or am I wrong maybe? but wind is another story...

Today in KSA, somewhere above 1800 m thin snow blanket starts, which is extremely frozen. Tomorrow no better. Mandatory winter equipment.

couple pics yesterday afternoon. Snow starts somewhere at ~2200m, lower sank 3x2m into snow (practically nothing). It's frozen but didn't slip. Wind started howling there somewhere above 2000m

Adding a couple of pics as a contribution to the situation description. But it was quite a party. Still in the dark at Konec by the cable car I spotted a tent where someone eagerly awaited the morning ascent at minus 1 or 2 . About 25 people and two dogs reached the summit, one hiker even with just one crampon. Paraglider launched from slope, glided over Kokrsko Saddle. Some turned back. Snow firm but not icy, crampons didn't sink to the sole. Starts ~200 m below summit. Footprints there, but without crampons a bit risky. Summit NW wind 6 m/s, temp ~ -8°C. High clouds limited views to some directions, cleared on top as I descended. Deja vu . Descent from Kokrsko Saddle to Konec as always soul-crushing and snow-free. Path leaves settled a bit, no more hassle, ankle-twisting rocks still there and will be. Still nice day anyway!
