Yesterday was another beautiful day worth exploiting. Since I'm more of a lizard in hill-climbing and tackle technically undemanding ascents at first, this time I decided to extend the ascent from Kokrsko sedlo to Grintovec. Started right from parking lot before Dom v KB, still in pitch dark, and after cca. half hour walk, at first light, arrived at lower station of cargo cable car in Konec. For ascent to saddle I used normed time 2h15min, continuation to top took me 3 hours. Obviously ascent to saddle did its thing. Streha summit covered with frozen snow blanket, so crampons and ice axe necessary. At top rewarded with fantastic view all around, but right on top it was blowing hard. But already few meters below top completely different story, just a bit sheltered. Descent finished already quite in dark, just in time to see without light. Even to Dom v KB continued without light, as moon was bright enough and night clear enough, no need for light.
Given that weather forecast won't change much next few days, now is a good time for ascent to Grintovec, and time-wise it works even if not among sprinters. Attaching a couple of pics.

At least on Saturday should still have OK weather up there. ARSO website forecast for Krvavec (closest peak to Grintovec with detailed weather forecast) shows exceptionally warm at the top, wind very calm too. Only on Sunday afternoon is gradual clouding forecast. Given high temperatures maybe justified to expect even softening of snow cover on upper part of Streha. Even if not, without crampons and ice axe at this time anyway no sane person rushes to high mountains.

Today I was on Grintovec from Suhadolnik, conditions almost identical to those on Saturday, just that the sun was shining. Snow starting about 200 m below the summit was still hard despite the sun, temperature below zero, and wind blowing about 3 bft. One hiker came with "crampons" from the chains, didn't feel too good and was a bit worried how to get down. Crampons really make sense despite small snow cover area.
I met 12 people, all on top today. Gorgeous weather allowed views far around, afternoon fizzled, some kind of haze formed.

Today from Suhadolnik to Grintovec. Up the old path, down via Taško. Praise to the markers for well-marked paths, especially up the gully. As the previous described, conditions are dry until the last ascent to the left. There the snow is still quite icy even around noon. It goes with crampons without major issues, still good to have ice axe and proper crampons. Summit book is in the box and stamp can be done. Weather beautiful and warm, but the last 15 minutes are wintry.
