Hike across Pohorje

Of course it's possible. First day from Maribor to Areh or even better Koča na Klopnem vrhu. Second day then to Ruška koča or to Grmovškov dom. Third day then past koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom to Slovenj Gradec.
For overnighting it's best to contact the individual hut.

Tina
a few years ago I wandered around Pohorje many times.
From Vzpenjača to Areh approx. 2 hours
From Areh past Šumik, Klopni vrh to Pesek approx. 5 to 6 hours
From Pesek to Grmovškov dom approx. 4 hours. From there to valley we had transport.
Best to overnight at Klopni vrh or Pesek. Didn't overnight at Pesek because price was too high for me. But nicest arranged!
Klopni vrh now renovated isn't bad. Best to phone ahead for accommodation and arrange.
Good to have Pohorje map!
Otherwise very nice trip.

If going from MB, max. 20 km per day, Klopni vrh too far, but very nicely arranged, even can shower. I walked this part 3 weeks ago, can ask at ZS.

Hike done last week, Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

Fitness medium poor, but lots of will nasmeh.
With cable car at 1800h to top, then good 2 hours to Areh. Overnight at Ruška koča at Areh, room price 14€ with hiking card, ate excellent deer goulash 7€ too.
Friday start at 0600h, arrival at Pesek around 1230, with some intermediate stops.
At Pesek excellent, but quite expensive lunch (especially since hut normally accessible by car for supplies), little lounging on loungers and at 1530 on to Ribniški vrh.
Arrival Ribniška koča at 1850h, with already burning feet.
Hostess initially a bit gruff, but softened after praising her really excellent beans nasmeh. (Room with dinner and breakfast 26€ with hiking card, since breakfast only at 7h, hostess kindly made excellent sandwiches instead)

Saturday again start at 0600h, over Kope to Koča pod Kremžarjevim vrhom, here drink beer or two (by the way they have extremely friendly and fun host) and hop to Slovenj Gradec, arrived at 1300h, last day walking very strenuous because mostly downhill, and some steep sections where legs suffer.

Trail otherwise super marked and hard to get lost, mostly through forest so not too hot.
Views normally none except few points, during week met very few hikers, bit more between Rogla(Pesek) and Lovrenc Lakes.
At Lovrenc lakes would mention from viewpoint tower you see not one lake, probably due to dense creeping pine cover.
Excellent trip for families and people with vertigo/height fear, no problems here hehe.

If going again, would start first day earlier and divide hike into 3 even days.

Please help!
From Sunday, 29 April to Tuesday, 1 May, with my wife and another friendly couple, we'd like to hike the Slovenian Mountain Trail from Maribor to Slovenj Gradec. We've nicely planned everything: when to start, where to sleep, but we're stuck on how to return from Slovenj Gradec to Maribor, where we left the car.
Despite our best efforts, we can't find any bus schedules from Slovenj Gradec online. Can anyone help? I'll be sincerely grateful for any help or advice. Thanks in advance!

Check the website of Izletnik Celje. They have the bus schedule from Slovenj Gradec to Maribor posted there.

On the Izletnik website, I unfortunately searched in vain. When I enter the starting station Slovenj Gradec, it warns that it is invalid.

Instead of Slovenj Gradec you should enter Sl.Gradec. Then it will find it.

These apps are really great.. nasmeh
There are more buses from Dravograd than from SG on that day (last at 14:45). To there maybe taxi? Best to check everything again on Izletnik's info.

Many thanks! Now I found it right away, although the timetable is very inconvenient, as the last bus to Maribor goes already at 10.35 in the morning.zmeden

The timetable is indeed a bit unfortunate...if you have some leeway the day before or after has a slightly more "convenient" departure time to MB...
30.4. departure from SG at 14.20
2.5. departure from SG at 19.20

If Slovenj Gradec is not an explicit wish for the end, it's possible to descend also to Dravograd... The tour extends by one or two/three hours but from Dravograd there is an SŽ train to Maribor at 17:54. Definitely a more comfortable return in terms of comfort is the train. But unfortunately!? on May 1st no connection but on May 2nd there is...SŽ/Dravograd - Maribor,02.05.2018
Otherwise ,,seasoned,, hikers and runners who do the connection over Pohorje in one day and during the work week ,,catch,, even the last train from Dravograd at 21:37...Lp

Hi, Maks.

Leave the car in Dravograd and you have more buses to MB in the morning (7:10, 9:10, 10:55).

Then after the tour bus from SG to Dravograd and in the evening again plenty of connections (15:10, 16:10, 17:15 and later)

Hi, NYG!nasmeh And we "meet" on another forum.mežikanje

My goodness, so many options. You guys are golden! Really golden! Thanks for the effort and good will. We'll have to sit down again and discuss everything once more.

Another option exists; if there's no transport, you just simply hike back on foot, and no more problems. What about some friend, wouldn't he come pick you up?

Now that I've read that more of you are going, you can already leave your own car at a certain place, there are plenty of solutions. We'll do the same in Istria. Lp.
