Hut keepers

The hike of 100 women to Triglav will be the first weekend in September. I participated five years ago. First night we slept at Pokljuka, second at Planika. There were many who, tired, went to rest already late in the afternoon. The less tired ones lingered with socializing and music, but not late into the night. The night passed quite peacefully. Wake-up was already at 4am, because rain was forecast later. At 5am we headed to Triglav. On descent, rain soaked us from Vodnikova hut to Pokljuka. This year too, women will sleep at Planika. According to Planika staff, they have the whole hut reserved for sleeping.
Let me emphasize that the hike was well organized, with safety and health care provided; all participants had proper gear.
What if there are several groups of 20 people - we're there. And on Saturday it was much worse on Triglav than if 100 women visited it.

I was on the hike of 100 women to Triglav last year and I must say I was unpleasantly surprised by the conditions at Planika. Rain soaked us the whole way, upon arrival at the hut we didn't have a dry inch of skin. The hut was dog-cold, the hutkeeper lit the fire only late evening. Of course, next day we put on totally soaked boots, because they simply had nowhere to even roughly dry.jezen

I can't believe some want cops in the mountains too, something's really wrong with you... Some should just move to Austria since they like it so much there, leave us to have some fun in the huts here and there, without police please.

Mountain huts are not meant for partying, that should be clear to everyone, and as far as I hear, in the future police will occasionally take care of order, as there are more and more complaints about rowdiness.

Wow, what allergic reactions! Clearly more police presence would help.

YES! I really want police in the mountains to make some order like mountain police do abroad.

To check the situation in huts, night peace violations, hut operations, to turn back poorly equipped hikers, fine some hiker with a loose dog or even the stupidity of someone going on a climbing route with it (all approaches to Triglav are climbing ones), to fine those who litter, yell, play loud music... I want that!

I try to follow rules of communal living and coexistence and have a clear conscience. Like on the road. I don't even flinch if I see a cop or a car and have no negative experiences with police. If they fined me, it was always fair. I try to follow rules for myself.

As for Austria where you send us Milošević-style: I hike foreign mountains too but I'll continue hiking domestic ones. Because they are beautiful too and I won't deprive myself of the pleasures they offer because of some primitives. And I'll continue pointing out irregularities, mistakes, inappropriate behavior...

Cops in the mountains? Please... mežikanje

no desire for pointless polemics, especially not in the style of "prmerpomoje" (whatever that means)

... sometimes it's necessary to put a little (more) mental effort into reading and participating in forums (by the way, English-inspired youth would say that using all caps in these chats is "rude")...

...and sensibly read the entire text not just pick out a single (provocative) word...

of course it's easier for some to lower the level to personal insult, since argument requires content...

...and I think I clearly wrote in the "gendarme-inspector union" that it's just a rhetorical question...

... and what was that about diversity and tolerance and at the same time culture (of dialogue)... and not just for those who have already passed Abraham...

...peaceful evening... tomorrow there will (probably) be sun again... nasmeh nasmeh nasmeh

Some want to show off wisdom, but no special rhetorician is needed here.. The fact is that the situation in huts (and on paths) is completely inappropriate for the peaceful high mountain environment - whether day or night. It was mainly about Kredarica and Vodnikova.. Obviously "civilization" (which in parking lots means nothing else but barbarism) is invading even the last, only thing left unspoiled in our country or., in this our world.
Tolerance for barbarism?? (I hope no one meant something like that).. Can the word tolerance even be used in this context?
No. We shouldn't be tolerant of the latter. Nor of all those who want to twist sad facts..
How strangely some interpret the concept of democracy!?!?...
Anyway.. let's explain things as we really see them, even if they are "probably". (Some so-called "democrats" would like to censor something.)
My opinion on this issue is that the mess in the mountains needs to be cleaned up as soon as possible. For that, some executive authority is needed..
It fines you in Jesenice in the middle of the city if you spit on the street, while in the reserve called Triglav National Park you can vomit wherever you want.
Slovenia, where do your "wisdoms" come from??

Praise to Koča na Gozdu, Kriški podi, Vodnikov dom, Dom v Tamarju (where I spend most of my time lately)nasmeh, I don't sleep in huts, all my tours are day trips. But I agree with my predecessors: Let's clean our mountains of all kinds of litter!

Those of us who are in the mountains "Friday and Saturday" (not literally, but close), know that about nine months a year it's not that bad. Part of July, August and part of September around Triglav is crazy, and New Year in open huts. Outside these periods it's quite pleasant even on crowded peaks and paths. Maybe also because then different birds go up there than those we "rant about" on this forum. In winter at Kredarica I haven't yet come across anyone sleeping under the table, haven't seen a puked-on toilet, and haven't heard anyone yelling at full volume around 2am. Interesting zmeden

JPRIM, you are as smart as the devil, I don't know if mountain huts are from Polcaj's or from PD, I don't know. When you ask for something you demand tons of papers and it's still not good. I know you will blurt something like when you step on a cat's tail, grudge. LPzmedenjezenvelik nasmeh

Some obviously want military (Austrian) order in huts: wake up at 6.00 and to the mountain, dinner at 19.00, 21.00 lights out and silence, but if everything is on the dot it becomes boring and predictable. Others would party in huts till morning because they are fun guys (and mountain lovers too). I'm for the middle between both extremes. Last year at Czech hut, while a group of hikers was singing in the evening, the cook told me that this is exactly what she misses most lately at the hut, so despite full day work she was happy about the song that would already disturb some because they can't sleep with chickens.

Yeees. that would be it, yeah!

At 6:00 the keeper comes and yells: GET UP!!! Everyone gets up, morning hygiene and lineup with all mountaineering gear. At lineup inspection of gear according to destination reported previous evening. Then breakfast and then departure in columns to individual path starts and there free!

Evening, at 22.00 supper and night silence.

Yees I would like it! mežikanje

Fresh pleasant experience from Kriški podi...

After a long time back in those parts, day respectfully beautiful, wonderful views from Razor, despite occasional passing mists, they don't need further comment...

Pogačnikov dom as a stop for quick lunch. Warm feeling that the local (young) team knows their job.

Aha. still owe to the gentleman signing "heinz", a few "posts" (comments) above, just as a wisecrack:

- rhetoric and rhetorical question are related but semantically only slightly apart

- about people on this forum "smart-alecking" of course says more about the author of such thought than participants
- suggest leaving daily politics out of this sphere, here we should (presumably) comment exclusively "mountains", up and down...
- but fully agree with you that quite a few of us (probably majority) hike mountains for enjoying natural beauties and peace. And the latter is, as "turbo" notes, in abundance outside summer season and outside "God's paths"...

Personally I like day hikes best and to places with as few people as possible. But of course I gladly meet (real hikers). Word for word, just greeting or short talk about the path and some experience from nearby hut.

reading this polemic, just want to note, if I want to party I go to a party or make one in my home garden. But when I want silence and peace I go among silent walls and lonely paths and it gets on my nerves every yoo-hoo and HO HO HO... like I heard all the way from Ljubelj to Begunjščica this Sunday, and it was a middle-aged guy from our group of 20 hikers. But some can't get out of their skin, everyone must see he crawled up there...
