With 10 pages of comments you ask why not for everyone? Previous post I deleted so there won't be fire under the roof...

I'm asking because there are many much more demanding paths in our mountains so I don't know why such praises for Jalovec? Nothing special.. It didn't excite me.. Anyway Šmarna gora isn't for everyone either, e.g. for people without both legs (sorry), I assume visitors of these pages are at least somewhat experienced mountaineers and such comments like Jalovec isn't for everyone are, mildly put, unnecessary remark.

Praises for individual mountains are in my opinion dependent on many other things besides the difficulty of the path to the summit. Crystal mountain is one of the most recognizable peaks, its image is on the PZS crest (probably not by chance), ascent through Ozebnik or Loški žleb are first-class winter tours, etc...
That it's harder than Triglav (in other words, not for everyone), masters of the written word already said when most of us weren't in the world yet.

Yesterday our path also led us—after a short break (without a sea vacation it still doesn't work) to the hills. This time to Jalovec from Vršič (it drags on a bit, especially on the way back), over Goličica, Jezerc to the top, where beautiful views were occasionally interrupted by some mist. For the descent we chose the path over Ozebnik and a stop at the shelter under Špičko, where they had quite a few visitors.

Today to Jalovec for the soul. Since there's some multi-year tradition in between, this time from Loška Koritnica, it's solitary there and no fear of meeting anyone, as there's a crowd in the mountains these days anyway. Right and a bit lower from the end of Loški žleb I enter the first fixed cables. Good for morning warm-up, the cables end quickly and a section with lush vegetation follows, so pants are wet above the knees. In the cirque under the saddle Čez Brežice (Brežiči) there's still some snow, so this week I'm walking on snow like all weeks of the year. At the saddle a short stop follows, a look down into the Bale valley, then to the green ridge of Loška stena, then up towards Škrbina za Gradom. Under the notch there's some rocks and scree, where you need to be somewhat careful. From the notch descent to the shelter under Špičko. Short chat with Nada and Marička, who took the "blue one" today because they apparently worked a lot over the weekend. Somewhere halfway up Ozebnik I meet the first ones of the day and go past them. Above Jezerca I meet another three descending, just a little higher also two from Koroška on the north side of Karavanke. Later we chat a bit on the top, one of them says he follows hribi.net too and thus recognizes me of course. From the top I descend towards Kotovo sedlo, where I meet two friendly girls. I ask them where I'll end up, and they reply to Tamar, but I don't want to go there. I point to the valley below us (Loška Koritnica) but they don't know it. Well, later they remember that from Kotovo sedlo they apparently saw some path that goes in that direction. That I'll manage because it looks like I know how to get down there, they said, and we parted. And indeed I got there, first to Kotovo sedlo, then down to the place at Koncu and finally after a total of 7 hours also to the starting point. Nice, Jalovec really isn't for everyone, from Loška Koritnica today only me.

Koritnica is real, special, solitary .. easy to imagine how it was 100-200 years ago.
Igor, that path to hunting hut that turns right there (old path) then joins cables in Ozebnik, marked somehow?
Looks like walking along "base" of Jalovec but still seems longer?

This, Igor, is well written. A bit of each. Right measure of everything.

Jalovec is lord, Triglav king. Among mountains.
Their subjects (read other two-thousanders), especially those without pox (read markings) and especially those where you need hands too to step on their tops, that's what pulls me upwards.
Jalovec, from wherever you see it, you know none equals it.

Start at 06:55 in Planica and in a good half hour already at Tamar. From a nice morning an even nicer autumn day was made, which squealed with joy. At 11:05 summit reached. Views very nice, a bit windy and some people on top. Descent same path back to Kotovo sedlo and to the valley. A little before 15 back at the car. And some pics. nasmeh

Not snowy, but icy was the scree in the upper part below the icefall down which I descended. No other peculiarities.
