I'm interested in the path from Tamar, over Jalovška škrbina to the summit, back over Kotovo sedlo to Tamar.

Hi guys, I planned to go to Jalovec next Sunday, through Tamar and Kotovo Sedlo. Does someone have news about snow and ferrata conditions?
Thanks
Lorenzo

I'm interested in conditions on the path from Trenta over Jalovška škrbina to Jalovec and then descent via the shelter under Špička?
Thanks.

On page 8 there is a description, same topic, snow you'll hardly find now, conditions haven't worsened but improved. Anyway I don't know what you even imagine by conditions. It could also be that you need to know the path which is unmarked past the TNP hunting hut. The bypass is strangely routed.

Nice greeting!
On Friday afternoon with my nephew at 16:45 we started from Vršič towards the shelter under Špička. The path is nice and friendly, maybe only the slightly too high temperature bothers a bit. We walked around three and a half hours. On Saturday morning we started towards Jalovec. Across the rocks of the big glacier basin the path is completely dry and nicely passable. When we reach the area where we enter the Jalovec ridge, we need to cross a small snowfield. It can almost completely be avoided if we don't go exactly on the marked path but about 20 meters lower. To the top there are no peculiarities. Nice view and precipitous walls enchant us.
Descent to the mentioned snowfield on the same path then towards Jalovški glacier. On the way to the glacier there is still a large snowfield, which can also be avoided if we go right under the wall and along the edge of the glacier. We don't descend into the glacier but continue towards Jalovška škrbina. We need to cross the Goličica wall, which is quite demanding on descent, as there could be one more peg or wire. We reach the notch, where we descend on scree and through the forest to the fork where the path turns towards Vršič or Špička or Trenta. We turn towards Vršič where we finish.
Tour beautiful, there was quite some heat.

Today I climbed from Tamar over Kotovo sedlo to Jalovec.

The path is demanding but well marked, the climbing part of the path (from 2400m onwards) could be better secured in some sections. The path crumbles all the time underfoot and if there are no safety devices available the feeling is not pleasant (you climb and ascend all the time above a very impressive overhanging wall).

There is just a trace of snow.

I returned via scree (Kotovo sedlo).

I recommend the path only to experienced mountaineers with full equipment (harness and helmet)

Has anyone recently climbed from Loška Koritnica to the shelter below Špička? I'm interested in the conditions on the path (snow, overgrowth).
Is the path more suitable for ascent or descent?

The path is super, varied! It has a little snowfield before Čez Brežice but nothing extremely dangerous! Definitely for ascent. Anyway it's dangerous and you need to be careful at the notch behind the tower because at least 10 meters of rope are missing on the right side!

Has anyone recently visited Jalovec from Tamar via Jalovec notch? I'm interested in the conditions on the path (especially that snow, before entering the climbing part)?

I was up there last week. No snow anymore or it's off the path. For this new snow yesterday I don't know, maybe some still on top.

The summit looked like this yesterday:

on the path just after the summit there was also some snow/ice early in the morning, which will be taken away quickly. Yesterday it was still a bit tricky.

On Sunday, if the weather is good, I'm heading to Jalovec. Which path do you recommend that is well protected, marked....
Does anyone maybe want to go to Jalovec, since I plan to go alone but it's a bit risky.

I don't know in what security is seen or felt if we go on a tour with a group. In our mountains rope belay is only for semi-alpine tours, the rest depends fully on own step and moving on slope. If we fall into gully, horde of climber friends can't save anymore.
Important to decide tour by abilities, properly equipped, informed about path and choice per weather.

True, but it's still nice if someone can notify GRS in case we ourselves are not able to. The chances of such an event are of course not great, but those few percent can be decisive mežikanje

And which path is well secured, marked...

All secured at critical points and a bit less elsewhere. Least secured is the wall over Goličica, also the path from the Shelter under Špičkom over Jezerca is less secured, on NW from Kotovo sedlo a bit more, over Jalovška škrbina again a bit less. The average path difficulty shows that Jalovec, despite modern times and added protections, remains a mountain in the true sense of the word.

...and may it stay that way!

from the south side it's really secured much less than other marked paths here (don't know from Kotovo sedlo)

Upon finishing the slo. pl. transversal two months ago to the question: what was the most demanding on that path, I answered, Jalovec without competition. That's all about Jalovec, good luck, mountain lover.

The best is to start from Vršič towards Jalovec and back the same path. That's for the start nasmeh! Watch out at ozebnika and on the summit pyramid of Jalovec, very demanding!

On the SLO transversal Jalovec might really be the most demanding, but there are some paths here even more demanding. To Jalovec I've always gone from Vršič so far, once over Goličica, the rest past Špička. The easiest return is definitely from Špička to Trenta, as the return to Vršič tires you quite a bit after such a tour.
