The ascent to Čisti vrh is not just a walk, regardless of years.

One day up or down, my camera clips for an hour, and that's half a year per year. Super is the very last picture - lower part where you see the attitude of those responsible towards nature.

On the best day of this winter I climbed it. Conditions below: dry snow, higher from Ozebnik south-facing, where slush builds up under crampons. Chimney steep and higher up poor winter already shows with consequent rock scratching.

Dear female hikers! Dear hikers! I hope you won't laugh at my writing, which I assure you I write extremely seriously. I started SPP in 2012 at 50 years and little by little got almost to the end. I still miss three two-thousanders that I'd like to conquer this year. With Razor and Kočna I hope there won't be problems, but I'm afraid of Jalovec. Very afraid! A few years ago I met a hiker in the hut at Dolič and got into a conversation with him. The talk came to Jalovec too. He said he'd been on it that very summer and described the ascent as very dangerous, especially warning me about the narrow precipitous ridge right below the summit. He said it's only about 70 cm wide with no way to grab anything. That conversation was really "balm for my soul", since I got so infected with fear that I just can't set off on that tour. I asked a few more hikers about that ridge and they all described it similarly. And now my request! Please, all who have a REAL PICTURE, attach it so I can finally see what that so dangerous ridge looks like. Please give info on how long the mentioned part is and how wide it actually is! I'll be very grateful for understanding and reply and pictures. Let me say at the end that I'm not afraid of cables, I enjoy them, and so far I've been to Mali Mojstrovka via Hanzova path, to Krn via Silva Korena path, to Mangart via Slovenian path, on ferrata Gradiška tura, to Peč via climbing path, and in Dolomites on ferratas Ra Pegna and Ra Buela. Nowhere did I have major problems, but what can you do, everything stops at thoughts of Jalovec and that damned exposed ridge. Please, help!

Jalovec is tough, but not that bad. You can go a bit below the ridge on the south side, grab onto the rock and it'll be fine. You must respect every mountain, sometimes a bit of fear is okay. Just go cheerfully on the trail. Attaching some pics, they're more winter ones, in summer season I barely photographed the ridge. Best and good luck on my mountain!

Dear barbarela, when you were on Hanzova, Slovenski.... then Jalovec is no problem!

The ridge on Jalovec is no bogeyman and is comparable to the Prisank ridge. The more dangerous part is getting to the ridge, as it's steep scree and dangerous for slipping. The ridge is, in my opinion, dangerous only for vertigo sufferers, which you cannot be based on your described experiences. Go boldly on the trail; you can still turn back anytime.
