Jalovec

Tomorrow evening will have perfect weather. If you start around half past five from Trenta, you'll be at the hut before dark, and Wednesday morning doesn't look like rain either (source: meteo).

From Vršič it really drags. Similar mistake as hiking to Triglav from Pokljuka instead of e.g. Krma, when people think the tour will be less strenuous with less elevation gain, but actually it's a much longer path and you're constantly going a bit up a bit down, so you're more worn out in the end...

If you want to go to the mountains, your last worry is asking about the weather here or calling Kredarica. The guys there are super, but they can't tell you anything extra precise, just as much as you yourself at the computer on some three smart forecast pages.
Wednesday should be surely dry, go in the morning and you'll be back long before evening. You're overcomplicating, if you don't want to go home, sleep at Vršič and Thursday hit another peakmežikanje
Good luck

I agree with ana. To me also the path from Trenta is more "friendly", although bigger elevation difference.nasmeh

Thanks for good wishes and advice, redbull. Still we'll do Jalovec in two days. First we're both over 60, second we want to savor the King with full lungs and keep it in warm memory that'll warm us all winter to next spring.

In the end we must ask what huts would do if all hikers were like you for whom every mostly demanding tour is play.
These are of course well-meant words, since I often admire you and drool over your tours.

This week is quite humid. There will surely be a thunderstorm, but take an anorak. It's important to be at the top at 07.30 if you start from the shelter at 05.30.

But if you're there at 7:35, it might still be okay too. Maybe.

Dear mountain friends, I, bbugari1, Becar, janezs73, redbull, hribov.ec, dprapr and darinka4!

I would like to thank you for the warm and encouraging words you bestowed on me here on the forum in mid-May this year regarding the ascent to Jalovec, which I was so afraid of that I couldn't decide at all to go for it and you filled me with the much-needed courage with pictures and words.

Last Wednesday I finally made it. On Tuesday afternoon I set off with two more friends from Trenta to the Shelter under Špik, where we overnighted and headed to the summit the next morning. I won't write about the tour, since you all know the King much better than me. It was strenuous but unforgettable. And the most incredible is that I crossed the ridge as if on a walk. It didn't seem anything special to me. When I was across, even I couldn't believe it was already behind me.

redbull, you were completely right when you wrote: "There are no difficulties on the ridge, so it has no cable either."

Thanks again to all! Hope I didn't forget anyone! Without your help I would still only dream about the King.

@barbarela, no, don't underestimate it. What is a "walk" for you can push another to death.

I apologize! I absolutely do not want and do not intend to underestimate the ridge. I just wanted to say that it is by no means as they described it to me and that walking (carefully, of course) on it caused me no psychological difficulties whatsoever.
