Dear mountain friends, I, bbugari1, Becar, janezs73, redbull, hribov.ec, dprapr and darinka4!

I would like to thank you for the warm and encouraging words you bestowed on me here on the forum in mid-May this year regarding the ascent to Jalovec, which I was so afraid of that I couldn't decide at all to go for it and you filled me with the much-needed courage with pictures and words.

Last Wednesday I finally made it. On Tuesday afternoon I set off with two more friends from Trenta to the Shelter under Špik, where we overnighted and headed to the summit the next morning. I won't write about the tour, since you all know the King much better than me. It was strenuous but unforgettable. And the most incredible is that I crossed the ridge as if on a walk. It didn't seem anything special to me. When I was across, even I couldn't believe it was already behind me.

redbull, you were completely right when you wrote: "There are no difficulties on the ridge, so it has no cable either."

Thanks again to all! Hope I didn't forget anyone! Without your help I would still only dream about the King.

@barbarela, no, don't underestimate it. What is a "walk" for you can push another to death.

I apologize! I absolutely do not want and do not intend to underestimate the ridge. I just wanted to say that it is by no means as they described it to me and that walking (carefully, of course) on it caused me no psychological difficulties whatsoever.

Congratulations for the king and the stamp. I also went up the first time in a group and it wasn't anything special for me, when I went alone it was a bit different.

Thanks for the congratulations! No, I wouldn't dare to go to the King alone even in my thoughts.

Bravo, congratulations! I experienced something similar last year myself. I also had quite a lot of awe before! The fresh markers that the previous year's caretaker Vasja made about a week earlier helped me a lot. Without them I would probably have had much more trouble. Good luck further!

Congratulations, nice tour, the nicest in the company of those used to difficult paths, then the "difficulties" disappear.
The King is worth a solo visit and then you definitely feel it the most winking This year my friend and I went to the east and that also has a special charmsmile

I browsed a bit through Mihelič and the book Northern Approaches, where I spotted the tour from Srednja Ponca to Vevnica. Since Jalovec isn't far either, I connected all three peaks into one tour.

Start at 6:30, fog in the valley, but as I bite into the slope, I soon reach the sun. Alone at Srednje Ponce, I continue along the long ridge to Vevnica. Path not maintained. Cables are poor, new ones installed only at two or three difficult spots. Three of us at Vevnica summit. View of Jalovec, Mangart, Kotovo sedlo right there... Start descending to bivouac below Mangart, thought path to Kotovo sedlo would be formality... but not quite. Had to drop 400m first to Log pod Mangartom, then climb back up (direct route from Vevnica to mini saddle then left to Kotovo sedlo - II degree climbing, no protections, no markings).

At Kotovo sedlo I hesitate if to go to Jalovec... Since it's right ahead, good hour to top, I go for it. Two of us at summit. Descent through notch, back to Tamar in two hours.

From Planica over all peaks back to Tamar in 10 hours. Not bad.

Jalovec 16. 9. 2019. On Sunday afternoon I quickly decided to go sleep at Špičko. I roughly calculated the walking time from Zapodno over Mali Kot so that darkness doesn't catch me. But long drive and Sunday drivers take their toll. At 17 I started hiking from the Zapodno parking lot. In the forest I met some descending hikers. One was surprised that I was going so late and that darkness would catch me. I know the path well. In the forest I heard strange sounds like a bear growling. But it wasn't that. They said that deer rutting sounds like that. The second part of the path after the forest was in the shade. And I quickly got to Špičko. In just over two hours. Never so fast before. Five hikers were outside. Six of us slept over. The evening was perfect for romantic souls. By candlelight in the shelter we chatted. Outside it was fairy-tale like. White sea below. The moon was shining and the stars were blazing, as they say. And quiet. We slept well. Friendly girl at Špičko. Next morning after breakfast, after six I head to the summit. So I'll be up early once. Morning without a cloud and it stayed that way all day. Two more hikers who slept in the hut followed me and we went together. With chatting the whole way and safe walking those two hours passed quickly. On the summit nice and calm with beautiful views. I stay longer. Slowly I head down to the valley. The sun warms the whole way. I meet only one foreigner who is going to Špičko. On the descent I didn't hear any sounds in the forest. Everything was quiet.

Both paths are demanding, long and exposed in some places. Proper gear, right weather and watch your step.

But the gentleman has the will for hiking. Dear people, what's with you? To avoid any mistake, I'm highly educated and know where the spelling errors are, but instead of criticizing him, better answer his question. The gentleman is not writing a book, he just wants info. With a little tolerance and kindness, the world would be prettier!
And have a nice day onwards.

'Gentleman' is semi-literate or so careless and you support such.
He got the answer before my post.
